I had Dr. Fugate in Calc 2 and Problem Solving for Teachers, which he turns into Intro to Proofs. In Calc 2 I thought Dr. Fugate was a great teacher, but the class was huge. He makes you write about your problem solving, which helps you learn. In MA320, I got to know Dr. Fugate better. He is a great guy and great teacher

Excellent teacher! Dr. Fugate speaks very clearly and knows what he is talking about. He is also probably the most polite teacher you will ever have. He treats all students with respect and cares about their education. If you have the chance to take him, do it!

He is such a wonderful professor. If you have the opportunity to take him, do it. Homework is due every day, but it's easily graded and will help your grade. The tests are difficult, but he curves with the class grading scale. Knowing his students is important to him, and he will always treat you with respect.

Quite possibly the worst math teacher that I have ever had. He made his class harder then it needed to be. His homework took a ridiculously long time to complete and then the tests looked nothing like the homework.

Not boring at all; very engaging and talented educator who seems to make a point of keeping students awake and interested. Obviously works hard to prepare lessons. Best math teacher I ever had. I suspect the whiners here are just mad because some subjects are hard, and Fugate won't give an easy A. Your degree means nothing if it wasn't EARNED.

If you've got other options don't choose him! He's really old and boring. He grades tests based on how much you can write (in paragraphs) about how to work the problem. The right answer alone gets you zero points. Homework in assigned every class period and turned in the next. Best of luck to you if you're stuck with him!

for calculus, fugate is just alright. for matrix, i highly recommend him...tests over definitions boosted my grade, and he allows a page front&back for each exam and 2 pages for the final. presenting homework problems is no fun, but it does help a little. good with smaller classes, he knows everyone by name but will call on you when youre dozing

He was very confusing. Didn't know how to explain the material very well at all, and there is no book to learn it your self. Don't even bother buying the notes assigned, I didnt use them once all year, they were not helpful at all. I would not reccomend him.

Excellent teacher. Lectures won't put you to sleep--keeps class involved (rare for math profs). One drawback: exams are awful, and he grades them really hard.

Professor Fugate is a good instructor after the first month has passed---though really he doesn't seem like he will turn out to be, but after the major amount of dropage has occurred, the class gets much better---too bad the tests are unforgiving, and involve a lot of memorization on top of the rest
