That last rater must have a grudge and misunderstands how the course works. Discussion readings may be reflected in few quiz questions, but matter a lot on the final, as the prof explained. Discussions lead to clear understanding of the readings. This class is organized and run well and that the reading, though substantial, is not onerous.

The professor requires you to double and triple up on readings. Gives weekly quizes based on readings and textbook. He spends one day out of the week lecturing, the second going over the readings, and the final day is the quiz. Lectures don't cover everything on quiz and the readings only have a couple questions even though they take up a class day

He loves to give 60 pages of reading in one week. If you don't read you will not pass the quizzes. There are four sections which make up your grade which are participation, quizzes, and two essays (one is your final). He averages them all out and thats your grade. Don't like talking? thats ok, you automatically get a C in participation.

Caroll is a difficult professor, but he is fair. His classes are generally set up in 4 sections: 11 quizzes worth 10 points each where he drops lowest score, essay and final worth 100 points each, and participation worth 100 points for a total of 400 points. Just stick to the reading and this should be an enjoyable class.

Honestly, I don't know why Proffessor Carroll has such bad reviews. His lectures are short and sometimes have nothing to do with the quizzes but that's obviously because it's just background information. Quizzes are based off the book and two argumentive essays; read and you WILL pass. No exams. Two essay papers. I totally reccommend him!

The quizzes nitpick the readings to the core. Expected to retain small, specific pieces of information. Lectures are boring and don't have anything to do with the quizzes. I would avoid this professor if you can

He expects a lot out of you and he expects you to fail. I Hate how he lectures, he doesn't make the class interesting at all. My advice is to skip taking him all together.

His courses are well structured, and exam questions are straightforward. Make the effort and you should do well in his courses. However, if you are a freshman, and/or not a history major, you will find his courses difficult.

Very by the book in terms of grades, makeups, missing quizzes, attendance, repeating the course. Otherwise very helpful, always open to discussion and hearing your concerns. Pretty good guy, would like more classes to be taught in similar form to his.

He requires you to buy 3 books. One is based solely on your quizzes and the other two depend on the in class discussions, 1st essay, and the final essay. He only lectures once a week, so you basically have to teach yourself the material. Honestly, it requires too much time and work for a GE class. I felt like it was nonsense.

His test are fairyly self explanatory. He gives you an average of 30 pages a night to read and his quizzes are tough if you didnt read before hand. His class is based upon students participating in class for points. His grading on final and term paper are extremely tough.

Tough class, tough prof. Not awful like the last comment says; I guess that person would rather just sit there than contribute to the class. You actually get a 70/100 if you say nothing. I personally like a professor who wants his students to engage the material.
