Prof. Bennett is seriously a great professor. He's incredibly funny and makes the topic interesting. If you miss class, you will miss out on important notes. He's pretty impersonal but the class isn't that bad. You're required to read 3 books outside of class, which you must do, but he gives you ample time. His tests are easy if you attend class.

Took this as an online class. There were 5 assigned books and most of the final grade was based off of comprehension quizzes from the books. The quizzes ask abstract questions that were difficult to answer even if you read the book. The quizzes are also timed to prevent looking things up. Not horrible but much more time consuming than other classes

Doing well in this class is easy, as long as you actually do the work. Instead of textbooks, he assigns novels, and you are given a week to read half of one. The quizzes on the books are very straight forward as long as you have read. Tests are the same, but only if you actually pay attention to the lectures. Would recommend this class to anyone.

He gives test the day before break. I sent him a formal email asking if there was anyway i could take it the day before because i lived far away. He made me cry. Called me up after class told me he didn't read my email but if I wasnt there he failed me and was very rude about the whole situation. The class in general was decent.

Definitely take religion with him. The best professor for the course. Funny and engaging, easy tests and book quizzes on easy reads every week or so. Would recommend to other first year students and beyond.

Read only a few books, take the quizzes based on them. A couple in-class presentations (were easy). Exams based on lecture material; go to class, take notes, study for a few minutes each night. Very easy going class. I thoroughly enjoyed the lectures and the books. Some participation is required, review your notes a minute before class starts.

Super fair class. The class is split up by 2 tests and there are 2 quizzes for each of the 3 assigned books, but books aren't on the tests. Be prepared to read and study if you want to well! The final in mandatory and you can choose to write a paper (only paper he assigns). Projects are done in groups and in class.

My favorite teacher so far at NU. Hilarious sense of humor. Gives people chances to do well. Involves the whole class and tries to make everyone comfortable. This guy knows his stuff and it was a privilege to learn from him. If you can have him for religion, take him. My friends had other teachers and were always complaining.

I check each semester to try to take another class with him! So reasonable with his expectations, which is a breath of fresh air for sure... Group projects were fun and easy grades, read the memoirs, respect when other people speak, go to class and you will pass. Such a great guy!!

Honestly, I was dreading taking religion (as someone who finds the whole concept ridiculous), but I couldn't have been luckier. The material is clearly explained, all group projects are in class, minimal test, and NO PAPERS. No textbooks except memoirs which is nice to reas and to pay for. He made the material accessible and interesting.

Bennett is the best! Favorite teacher of the semester. There are 2 tests but if you do bad on one, you can take the optional final exam and replace your lower grade. 2 group projects are kind of fun. Read 3 book through semester that are kind of interesting. Not a bad class. Highly recommend it with him.

He's a really nice and cool guy. He doesn't think hockey is a sport though, so he lost a point for that. His tests are pretty tough unless you really study and take good notes. He has you read 3 books that are all pretty good reads. Overall a good teacher for religion.

He is a really good professor. Assigns two presentations instead of papers. Tests are easy as long as you go to class and pay attention. Have to read three books but they are easy reads.

He is a great teacher. He knows this is a 100 level class and doesn't make it extremely challenging. The tests you take are horrible, and he drops the lowest test grade! you have to read three books, however they are super easy to read and the quizzes are super easy,. he also drops the lowest quiz grade as well. Over all very helpful!

Bennett is fantastic! The 3 books you have to read are actually entertaining and the quizzes are easy. The tests are multiple choice, usually with an essay, and he drops the lowest one. He knows this is a 100-level class and doesn't make it hard for students. Funny guy too!

Great teacher. Does slideshows and everything he covers in class is on the test so its really easy. Lots of books to read(3) with quizzes but easily manageable. Also no writing papers so that was awesome. Take him for an easy A.

He's a nice guy and is willing to answer any questions that you have. The book quizzes are very easy as long as you read them. Only bad part of this class is his tests. I felt comfortable in review sheets and going into the test but they are very difficult. He makes them very tricky and confusing. Overall 7/10

Dr. Bennett is a fair grader and a fair professor. He holds you accountable for your work and can be, at times, ruthless if you are unprepared. Do your work, which isn't even that much at that, and prepare for class. His book quizzes are effortless if you actually read the books and he tests on the lectures, not necessarily the texts. 8.5/10
