Comment:

Yes, his Intro to Programming class was hard. Yes, he introduced ASM 6 weeks into the class. But considering he got us through material covering what is now all of 142 and half of 143, and still had time for ASM, and didt it in a much better way than the current "OOP on Rails" that Perkins, Stepp, and Reges use now, people shouldn't complain.

he knows his subject. i don't like him personally. but one can learn a lot from his lectures and the demanding course work. don't expect any feedback or extra help though. demands alot from his students and doesn't take any crap. one of the best lectures i have had...

Someone should tell the guy that it is an introductory class. He needs and should be sticking to the curriculum or teach another class. It seems that only programming geeks actually find his class enjoyable. And he keeps putting pictures of his ugly dog in the lectures! Don't take him!

It's an INTRO to programing.. so why the hell did we have to go into ASM??? TAs even said that we shouldn't be learning the stuff he was teaching! Don't ever take this guy..i don't care how much more you learn, it's not worth your grade.

Knows his stuff, and expects a LOT from the class. Having had him for a "weedout" class, I think his teaching methods were just fine; making the first assignment (relatively speaking) the hardest to keep only those with love for the subject.

I have to agree he knows everything about his field, but I think he should've stuck to being a plain programmer. He thinks everyone in the class is a programming geek, but that isn't the case. He's a nice guy, but he doesn't make CSE any easier to learn.

By far the best professor I have ever had. Learned SO MUCH in that class. We covered twice as much material as was taught by Dickey and Perkins. How many OTHER introduction to programming courses have enough spare time to branch into ASM?

I wish he was teaching 143 as well. This guy is hardcore, knows his stuff and a good lecturer. Although his, makes the class hard, he is VERY clear on his instructions as to what he wants in his assignments. I love that!
