Very tough grader, if you don't do well in English he isn't the teacher to take. He is generally a nice guy but if you are used to A's on papers you won't be seeing much of them in his classes, unless you are an outstanding writer.

Prof. Johnson is interested in the course material which makes the class more enjoyable. The essays are short, but a lot of students had a difficult time with them (myself included). Some of the readings were difficult to get through. This class kept me motivated to put all my effort in and gave me a much better understanding of rhetoric.

I was always very good at English until I got to this class. He does things very differently. Professor Johnson is always willing to help, but he is not very helpful. He is also a very tough grader. DO NOT take his class if you struggle with English.

This class wasn't too hard but did require you to put in some out of class time. He had a lot of papers but none were so demanding that they couldn't be done. Brian is a fair and compassionate teacher. I honestly felt like I was in a counseling environment more so than a class room. I did learn a lot however, and it definitely improved my skills.

prof johnson is a great teacher because he is fair and gives a reasonable amount of work and enough time to do it. he does give essays and expects homework to be done. just show up, listen, try to participate and do the little reading assigned and you will be fine. just work hard, and he'll treat you well.

Had him for 111 and 112. Signed up for him twice because he is that amazing. Johnson is one of those teachers that always makes you feel good about your writing and feel like your opinion matters. He never puts you down because he wants you to try and be the best in his class. I wish all my english teachers were like him.

This class was team taught, and it was honors so it being difficult was a given. But he always stuck up for you when the other professor (Marsoobian) tried to verablly reduce you to nothing. He's a super nice guy! He really tries to challenge the way that you think and open you up to new ideas.
