Comment:
One of my favorite professors at Goucher. He's really funny and really easy to talk to. If you have any issues either with the class material or in your personal life, he'll be willing to meet with you to discuss things. His grading system is a bit weird but once you get used to it, it's all good. Overall a really great teacher.

Comment:
Brian sees himself as a therapist rather than a professor, and sees his students as mentally ill patients rather than students. If you don't talk to him about your problems, he doesn't give you a good grade. He picks his favorites. He works for some people, not for others. A few hours of reading a night for his classes.

Brian Patrick's frontiers course on education was interesting, but his teaching style ruined it. The class was discussion based (which I liked), but often the discussions turned into full-blown arguments, which he didn't stop and seemed to entertain him. Also, the students grade each other's work instead of him. Not very helpful as an advisor.

Dr. Patrick is the biggest sweetheart. He speaks VERY softly, with understanding, kindness and sincere care. It was an absolute honor to be in his class because he taught me so much, not only about myself, others, but also just plainly about compassion. A lot of concepts in Social Psych became applicable in other aspects of my life, beside academia

His frontiers class is super interesting and mostly discussion-based, which I like! It was a great introduction to Goucher academics.

Brian Patrick is one of the main reasons I transferred out of Goucher College. He presents material as open to interpretation, but then refutes opinions if they don't agree with his own. Unhelpful as an adviser; hypocritical as a professor.

Great guy, but bizarre grading system. Quizzes do not reflect the work put into studying, and and grade below a 55 on the final exam (very difficult to perform well on) is counted as a 0. Do not take this course if you are interested in the scientific aspect of psychology.

He's totes awesome! He is generally quiet (personality-wise), and he doesn't talk much in class except to generate discussion. But the discussions are so intriguing. He's also really cool and very approachable.

Brian is a great teacher. He is passionate and interesting and always tries to integrate everyone into the class. His discussions are interesting. Grading is sort of confusing but he's really smart and knows exactly what he's doing. He's very cool and nice and I would take him again in a heartbeat. Very flexible.

Brian is one of the greatest teachers I have had. He loves helping his students in any way he can to make class fun and interesting for everyone. He lets the class go where it has to go and will admit to his mistakes gracefully. I LOVE BRIAN!

Fresh off sabbatical, modified his Soc. Psy. class to be useful... to education majors. Applied principles of motivation theory to education. LOTS of group-presentations of material, so I have almost no idea how HE lectures. I like that the final is no-risk, but peer-grading system means that everyone gets a B/B+ without the final.

Great teacher, loved his classes. We usually had interesting conversations in class and I learned a lot in them. Readings were interesting, but could also be excessive at times.

Though he's good at teaching the material, he can be incredibly flaky. If you like assignments with amourphous guidelines and wishy-washy psychology, he's the best professor you'll ever have. Really likes to hear people with identical opinions talk about their feelings. However, if you want serious *scientific* course, avoid him at all costs.

He was very interested in what everyone had to say, and our class was unlike any i've ever had. He not only taught us about different teaching systems, but let our classroom turn into a very unique learning experiance itself.
