The absolute best class I have ever taken. Shelton is so entertaining and the class is so interesting. A lot of writing work, but it's definitely worth it. If you have even in slight interest in movies/films take this course!

The only complaint I have about Shelton as a teacher is that he CONSTANTLY makes fun of RVC. Although it makes him really popular with the students and is funny at first, it gets old fast. Other than that, you can definitely tell how passionate he is about film. Also, his class as a whole is a guaranteed A. Great teacher, not so great attitude.

Great teacher. VERY passionate about this genre. Knows his stuff...in fact, if he tells you something LISTEN. He's telling you for a reason. Great sence of humor (even if a bit dark and sarcastic). If your interested in film, THIS is your guy. Don't bother with those high price art schools. Big name schools won't substitute talent or creativity.

One of the best professors at Rock Valley. He's funny, his classes are fun, and it's obvious that he really loves what he does. I've made a lot of good friends while taking his classes and I believe that is a result of the environment in the mass comm department. It feels like a second home.

Mr. Shelton is fantastic with teaching. He keeps the class interesting and is hilarious. He cares about his students and had a sarcastic sense of humor. He challenges you to think about the material and expects you to articulate your knowledge in your essays. He is also easy on the eyes...too bad he's straight.

Professor Shelton was awesome! He was very funny and sarcastic, but he really does care about his students. He is extremely knowledgeable & makes the material very interesting! The stuff you learn about films is fascinating. He is one of my favorite professors! You can't slack, but its not too hard if you read & actually put effort into the work!

Shelton is the best Professor I have had yet. His class is very fun, educational, and it opens your eyes to movies you wouldn't usually watch and makes you look at them in a different way. I am a Cinematography Major and found this class to be excellent. Shelton is very sarcastic and likes to poke fun at the French, but thats just who he is. 10/10

I've taken Shelton for numerous classes. He's more than willing to help, but he can come off harsh. He's not one of those teachers you can slack through, and you should probably read. He's entertaining. Great teacher--by far my favorite one.

I had him for COM 130 and 251. Both were interesting online classes. If you are good at searching things online do not bother with getting the text books. I like the way he runs his classes.

Yeah, Shelton's got an ego. But the man KNOWS his stuff. He is helpful and fun. I see a lot of people saying he doesn't care about his students; the EXACT opposite is true. If YOU don't care, he won't. If you show that you're trying, he'll make it worth your time. One of my favorite professors at RVC.

If you're a baby, don't take any of Shelton's classes. He will call you out on stupid things you say or do, and he has no time for people who don't care about learning. Overall literally one of the best teachers I've ever had. He's there to prepare you for the world, not baby you. I learned so much from this man. Take the class if you dare ;)

Cool guy. Sure, he's sarcastic and egotistical, but that's his personality. Eclectic personalities are the spice of life. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Shelton and Shawndra bounce off each other often with hilarious results. He doesn't suffer BS gladly, so if you can keep the BS to a minimum, I think you'll get along famously

If you enjoy being called on and discussing your work in class, then take this one. If you like to just sit, listen, and take notes, this is NOT the class for you. You will be put on the spot and often Shelton may come across as rude and critical.

He's not a mean person, he is extremely sarcastic though and that's why lots of people like him. he's not afraid to tell you that your project was horrible because it probably was. Don't get angry that he's not sugar coating anything for you, just deal with it. He really is a great professor and the only reason why I like RVC is because of him.

Took as an internet class, did not enjoy it. 6 film reviews, plus 2 research papers, on top of everything else he expects you to do. Not hard to get an A, but ALOT of work. He is very full of himself, and isn't afraid to tell you how he feels. Doesn't seem to like college students much. (The tests are mostly short answer)
