I highly highly recommend against taking this class, especially if it is just for GER credit. Dr. Siegel's lectures are so boring and the subject doesn't help at all. If you MUST take this class the pop quizzes are easy but every week. Pay attention to the videos in class because they are short answer on the exams. Don't take it though.

You read two books at a time - your textbook and then a book that has to do with a certain religion (one of them, I LOVED), come to class and discuss, then have a test at the end of each unit (when you complete the second book). I studied for about 2-4 hours prior to each test and made As on all. He is a very reasonable grader and so funny!

Dr. Siegel is kind of crazy but funny. His tests are usually pretty easy (short essays) and he tells you what the essay questions will be about. His lectures are boring and he talks really fast so it's hard to take notes. We watch A LOT of movies but they're better than lectures. I would still recommend this class. attendance doesn't matter

Impossible to take notes. Speaks way too fast and is very dry. Bring a tape recorder.

He doesn't really interact with any of the students in the class. I'm pretty sure he only knows the names of two students. His classes are either lectures or watching movies. He has a pop quiz almost every week so you have to keep up with the reading. The tests are really easy. Each one is two short answer questions and then 38 multiple choice.

Good professor overall. Not warm and fuzzy, doesn't care if you pass, but knows his stuff and is pretty good at teaching it.

Definitely not my favorite professor. He is very opinionated, and not very understanding of other's beliefs. The lectures weren't interesting, but there were a good amount of movies (that were also boring). Occasional pop quizzes on the reading. Not terribly hard, though.

Very funny prof, although he probably didn't really mean to be. Interesting topics covered in class but did not always align with what was tested. Scatterbrained, which made class amusing. Do the reading and you should be just fine.

I have greatly benefitted from the studies of Prof. Siegel on the Lamba people of Zambia. One of the very few scholars who have taken interest in exploring this African tribe whose historical and anthropological knowledge was about to disapear. The Lambas of Zambia will forever remain indebted to this great scholar

Dr. Siegel's lectures were somewhat unorganized, but he told interesting stories and much of class was spent watching videos. He was helpful and personable when I had a conflict with a test date. Do your readings and you will definitely make an A!

Beanie Siegel was an interesting guy. Although he seemed fairly smart he occasionally bordered on insanity through his ramblings. Horribly unorganized and he learned about 3 names in class. Do your reading and you will be fine.

Dr. Siegel is scatter brained and the class can be boring. Overall the material would have been interesting had he been more organized. He is not always clear so tests can be a bit of a gamble.

Jeez, you guys. He was maybe a little absent-minded, but he was mostly together, his lectures were usually interesting, the material certainly was, and, overall, this was one of the easiest courses I've ever taken. Do the reading and you're fine. Yeesh. Ya whiners.

He is a good guy but he is very unclear and disorganized while lecturing in class. Unfortunately, the fact that he does not lecture well makes the class extremely boring and tests can be frustrating.

Dr. Siegel is a horrible professor. He lectures on one thing and then tests on another. I thought I had imporved on my tests as the term progressed, but I ended up making the same final grade as my mid-term. This class will definitely hurt your GPA. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Awful professor. Did not read test essays thoroughly and counted off for things not included in your response when they actually were. Entirely unhelpful outside of class. Picks favorites. Total a**

Dr. Siegel is so cute! (In an old man sort of way) His class was interesting, and you can really tell he loves the subject material. He also keeps all of his old students updated on things that relate to the class even after your not in his class anymore. Although, he can be absent-minded at times.
