From day one, I found interest in this course. Dr. O'Rourke is compassionate and attentive to the learning needs of her students. She treats her students with respect and is clear on her expectations. She creates a great environment to learn and connect with fellow classmates. TAKE IT!

I really Dr. O'Rourke's lecture style. She is very clear with her expectation's for the course and the areas that she believes the course will truly benefit her students. This course is a must-take!

You won't regret taking her class. She is always willing to see you outside of class, and she genuinely wants all of her students to be the best they can be. She accepts revisions, which shows how she truly wants every student to receive an A. From the moment you walk into her class on the first day, you can tell it's going to be a good semester.

Dr. O'Rourke is one of the main reasons why I really started to love Elmhurst College. She is a caring professor, and you will learn a lot of valuable information that can be applied to your other courses. There are so many sections of ENG 106, but I recommend to all of my friends to take her class. I really love learning from her.

Dr. O'Rourke is an amazing professor! She is clear on her expectations, however allows her students to embrace their creativity. She structures her curriculum on real-life issues, giving her students the opportunity to become more civically engaged. After taking her class, I have been equipped with resources to better develop my writing skills.

If you wanna sit in a class that has mandatory attendance and learn nothing, then take her class. Papers are easy for the most part so its easy to take for credit, but she will talk about "discourse" all of class and at the end of the semester you still won't know what that means because her definition of it is different from the actual meaning.

Prof O'Rourke tends to talk on and on about things that do not even pertain to the class topic, however she thinks they are important. She doesn't appear to be very organized as she assigned a part of a paper that is done after you write the paper to be turned in before we started our final draft! Many things did not make sense. Beware!

First of all, half of the class is already inside the classroom by the time she gets there. Never do anything in class, and there's a ton of useless assignments to do outside of class. I haven't improved my writing skills. Takes forever to grade hw. All over the place and always seems to run on a tangent. Would highly recommend NOT taking her!!!

Dr. O is an interesting professor... She is an extremely nice person, and will help you, but doesn't seem to have any sort of lesson plan or direction, and honestly wastes lots of class time on things that we could easily work on ourselves...

I never had to push myself so hard in English until I took her class. She's passionate about teaching and cares about the success of her students however the work she requires can sometimes get too overwhelming. She does not clarify her directions and she gives a lot of in class assignments. Overall, I do not recommend taking her class.

Never ask her a question because she will talk to you for the rest of class. All work is pointless, but there is a lot of it. She is a great person but not the best teacher. It takes awhile to get back graded work and most is online. I would not take this course with this teacher again because she does not actually answer questions.

Couldn't have asked for a better 106 teacher! Loves participation and respects all ideas. She has a positive energy that makes students want to be better at writing. She is a tough grader, but lets you re-write essays. Only three assignments and small blog postings during the semester. Work diligently and you'll get a good grade! Also, no book.

Dr. O is the best. She loves her subject, her class, and her students. She is interested in your growth as an intellectual. Come prepared for class to make the time go by more quickly. She is trying some new stuff (a grading contract for a "B") and it worked great for me. Super accessible in person and via email. Makes you want to do well!

She is a knowledgeable and genuine when she is teaching the class! The only issue that I found with her was the essays that were required to write never had specific instructions on what she was looking for. Also, I wanted feedback on my papers from her, but I never received much of that from her- except for 1 essay! But overall, a GREAT teacher!:)
