I had her before she was a doctor. She was the worst teacher I had! She was always late; seemed like she hated being in class and any males. She doesn't accept anyone else's opinion and grades so subjectively! Terrible teacher! No substance to discussion either.

Dr.Byrd helped me so much to improve my writing quality. I think she moved to Clayton State University (Georgia) after getting a position there, and I'm happy for her. It was really funny to hear her accent, too. >.<

She was just plain bad. Late all the time, treated her class like it was a job she never looked forward too, never commented on what she thought about poetry, and most importantly: never gave much comment in workshops. I swear, she seemed like she read each students work in like 15 seconds. Take someone else if you want to be a good writer.

Dr. Byrd intimidated me at first, but if you show up for class, prepare the readings & responses, participate, and turn your work in on time, this class will be great for you! It is definitely NOT an easy A, but I learned alot from her!!!

This professor DOES NOT want her students to succeed. She doesn't handle grading well, and will misguide you. Often speaks in circles. Usually takes to female students well, but seems to discriminate the male sex. She's always late to class. She's French, avoids teaching Classic British poets. Often refuses deep discussions with the readings.

Really a dishonest professor. She made up her own grading system at the very end of the semester. I got a very good grade, but not the one I expected because of this. Also, she was late for class constantly. Did 5 drafts of the final portfolio for EVERYTHING... carried no merit. Never really got the class to think about the assigned readings.

its true that if you have no talent in writing she doesnt really spend that much time with you. its only those who show at least SOME inclination towards the skill that get her attention. dont take her if youre just beginning.

Ok, she's not THAT bad, but she is late and inconsistent in workshops. She wants her students to go against tradition, make poetry their own. Her syllabus is MISLEADING, making grading standards at a 93% for every A (meaning, you make anything less than that on one assignment, expect an A- or lower as your final grade), not warning her students.

Very opinionated and direct in her comments, she offers good input, but little direction for the writer. She picks good books to read and has a fun personality, as long as you dont take her too seriously. I would take another class with her, and be sure to meet more outside of class for help.

Ms. Byrd is really cool. I dig her french repetoire. Awesome on Margaritte Duras. Everyone should take a class with her. You'd learn a lot and have fun, too.
