Comment:
It's Writing Philosophy, so you should expect a lot of small writing assignments. Bruce is funny though. I don't really think he cares whether you show up or not. You're pretty much graded off of how much you improve over the semester. He's a really smart and laid back guy. One time he dismissed class and told us all to go drink a beer.

Bruce is an awful teacher. He tells you he has office hours 2 hours a day, but if you can't meet him then, it's really difficult to meet with him at all. He's very closed minded and expects you to know the readings like the back of your hand. If you're looking simply for an easy philosophy class, don't take it with Bruce. He loves single malt, too.

Hands down one of the best professors in the philosophy department. Probably the most intelligent human alive as well.

Interesting character! Scribbles across the board the entire class. Take notes, because you'll need them for the exams. Two exams and a graduate level paper - thats your grade! Gives occasional EC though. Smokes and brings coffee, so don't sit in the front row unless you can stand the smell. Good lectures overall though.

Three tests and tons of quizzes the first half of the semester. Keeps your top five quizzes and drops the rest. Always willing to help students out and class time is strictly going over homework (which you don't hand in) and learning how to do everything. GREAT teacher!!

*HANDWRITING UNREADABLE *RAMBLES *UNORGANIZED hope you don't want an A-makes you write an upper/grad paper for this 100 level class or else 80% up is a B!!! Class is boring, but he does give "answers" to all study guide questions at the review. ESSAY EXAMS GOODLUCK!

He's very very good at explaining things, and he's funny, but his handwriting is like the scribblings of a caveman.

This professor has a very good background in philosophy. He tells lots of stories to help teach the lessons. His lectures can be boring. The absolute worst part about him is his refusal to write legibly on the chalkboard. His handwriting is by far the worst I have ever had to interpret in any of my three years of college classes.

I've had 2 classes with Bruce: Intro to Formal Logic and, Epistemology. The first was very easy, grading dropped 2 lowest quiz grades, tests were a breeze. The latter was very reading intensive, dense material and long paper writing. Either way, Bruce has a way of explaining things that brings home the point. Strongly recommend.

His subject totally sucks, but he is a great guy - always willing to help and a total riot. Every example has to do with single malt some how...study and put forth some effort and the class really isn't all THAT bad. PS - Kiss up to him by mentioning your love for Bob's Diner!

Bruce is a great teacher. His examples are funny and irreverent. If you are willing to study, his class is a breeze. I got over 100%. But you have to do the homework. Fortunately, the homework is kind of fun if you let yourself get into it.

STUPID class, all the work is ONLINE - Glymour doesn't do well with these teaching tools, but I guess he has to use it. Homework assignments never clear, bad handwriting on the board, but he IS always ready to answer a question.
