"Inspiring" sounds like a corporate cliche, but the adjective fits Bruce. Bruce's passion and intelligence were palpable. Sit in the front row; grab a chalice and collect as much of his wisdom and if you can!

Bruce is probably one of the best professors at York! He knows how to keep his students intrigued during the entirety of his lectures and he has a great sense of humour and utilizes it in a way that still helps us understand the material. He's also very kind and was sweet whenever I'd run into him. A tough grader, but the course was worth it.

being a student of his is a potentially life-changing experience... he has a big heart, deep sensitivities, is highly literate and knowledgeable and yet human still... visionary and yet grounded... an unusual thinker yet he has a sense of humour... multiple understandings with Bruce... will pass some of this thoughtfulness onto a receptive student.

Bruce is Compassionate sincere and gentle. He facilitates wonderful class discussion and helps students in their own creative endeavors (he has a creative writing background). He supports committed students any way he can. The reading frustrated me at points, but the lectures was worth doing it for.

One of my favourite university English profs so far. He doesn't really depend on the novels during lectures, but he does write some words down on the chalkboard. His writing is hard to decipher sometimes because of the fast writing, but if you pay attention, you won't even need to take notes because the lectures are very interesting.

He was one of two profs that I had to get an applause/ovation at the end of the year, which speaks measures of his capabilities as a professor. He is an open-minded soul when it comes to essays and will gladly help anyone in terms of structuring a concise argument. His lecture material is interesting. If you have an opportunity, take his classes.

I didn't like Bruce. I know lots of people do, but his lectures were on bios and name dropping which doesn't really help analysis. Also, he'd make radical claims and when pressed on them, either wouldn't go into detail or was completely unconvincing. Fun fact: He looks like Hugh Hefner.

Really nice, approachable guy. His lectures are good but not great - he tends to talk too much about the lives of authors instead of the actual content of the novel/play/poem being studied. In any case, I'd recommend him.
