Comment:
Yes his lectures are very boring but the lecture notes are amazing. The data mining software you learn is interesting too. Tests were very straight forward and he gives you a study guide so there are no surprises and also get a test note card. The material itself is very interesting. If you are decent at math, this class will not be difficult.

Comment:
This class consisted of 4 tests (last one online/open book/notes), and homework and labs. Not a terrible class, just sometimes can get boring since the material can get technical. Zurada makes an effort to condense it in his lecture notes. The study guides were helpful in studying for the tests. Overall, okay class, just hard to understand him.

I'll start by saying he is a nice guy. His lectures are painful and it's hard to understand him. Absolutely no reason to go to class. You can learn everything from the notes he posts. The hw is similar to the tests. The material is boring and pretty much useless. He does care about the students and this subject greatly.

I tried going to class but I couldn't understand anything he said. It's better if you study his notes on your own, but even that's hard because his material seems to be hard and heavy for no reason. Lots of the things you learn here are pretty useless for CIS majors. He's the only one that teaches this so good luck. At least he's nice to students.

Dr. Zurada really cares about this subject and his students. He is always there and willing to help. His lectures are a little boring, but overall the class isn't bad. There are a lot of opportunities for points and the exams aren't difficult if you review the material. I highly recommend taking Dr. Zurada!

So he is the only one who teaches CIS 350 so you don't really have a choice. Be prepared to study and go to class for in class activities. The killer about this class is that it is weighted 65% tests and 35% everything else. Just get through it. Getting a B isn't unattainable, but you have to do the work. An A is hard to get.

He is a terrible speaker. He mumbles, and speaks softly in monotone. He is a nice guy, but class time is worthless because it is impossible to listen to him while he drones on. You have to come to class though, because he has in class exercises that he gives points for.

Boring Lecture, not worth going to class but for the class activities that you can only accomplish in class. STAY AWAY, take Keunene instead(dont know really how to spell her name). Zurada gives the longest tests and asks PLENTY of TRICK questions..this should say something because I am a CIS major - Zurada is the worst teacher in CIS.

Cryptography. Brush up on your math skills because this is the main component of this course. he thinks you should have learned calculus in grade school. attendance is not mandatory, but gives class activities that are worth points. he spent all 3 hours of each night class and each class was horribly boring. bring a laptop to entertain yourself.

He's got rough hearing which makes his speech unclear. He is monotoned and it is rough to stay awake because the class is boring. He is a good guy tho and when you catch his jokes, they are pretty funny. Available for help but the class is easy.
