DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF. I usually ignore overly negative reviews on this site as I am hardworking, always have a 4.0 but I couldn't handle this class. It's the last day of finals week and I haven't gotten a single grade back yet. Also, I have three revisions due today and he hasn't given me the feedback he was supposed to before thanksgiving break.

He's a really good guy, definitely cares about his students. However, we only had a handful of writing assignments and they were all due at the end of the semester, so we didn't get much helpful feedback. I still don't know how I'm really doing in the class and the semester ends in a few days. Expect lengthy papers and not so much time to do them.

Firstly, he went to Princeton to receive his master's, so he obviously knows what he's talking about. Secondly, and most importantly, he's extremely nice and helpful and wants to learn everybody's name in the class. There is a lot of group work which isn't that bad. I took Non-Western Literature, and the books are very intriguing, if you read them

We hardly had any grades but whenever there was something he would grade it would take ages for him to give you your grade. Also, hes really enthusiastic when it comes to circling up and discussing as a group. Basically, he takes one thing from a student and talks about it for 10 minutes to the point where no one remembers what was said originally

Open-ended assignments but easy. The novels were fun to read. The course material itself is difficult, dense, and convoluted, but what do you expect from a critical theory class? He does ramble sometimes and I zoned out at least once per class but he's really nice and does his best to make material relevant and interesting.

Good guy, very scattered however. Read so many books it was very hard to keep up with the reading. He was never clear on what he wanted from us and we never got a grade back from him until final transcripts came out. Would not recommend.

He's really nice, but a bit scatter brained. If your taking the class with a friend, i suggest you share the books to save money. pointless to buy them when you read like 2 chapters of the whole thing. His class is pretty much average. If you take it, I'm sure you'll survive just fine.

Nicest guy ever but one of the worst teachers I have ever had. Always has some excuse as to why he hasn't graded or returned any assignment. Reading material and lectures were pointless. I learned nothing from this class. Dreaded it every day.

Horrible! The books were really expensive and we 60+ pages of reading a night. He is a really nice guy, but the class was so unorganized and there were no notes. Also we had 25 discussion posts, 5 blogs, a book review, and a 10+ page paper. Not fun.

Bruce is a very kind, understanding and intelligent person. I really like him as a person...but as a professor...hes nothing to write home about. He just over extends himself making the class confusing and impossible to get any kind of grade out of him.

Otherwise, he was a very understanding teacher and an easy grader. Even though attendance was mandatory, I barely went and still got an A. Had him for Science Fiction, and holy crap. While he requires a LOT of reading and class discussion, he's really easy-going and laid back about everything. That and he's passionate about what he teaches, which is a definite bonus considering this class is SCIENCE FICTION lol. He does wander off topic sometimes, but it makes for a great class.
