I took Western Civilization and Africa and the West with him and I found both classes to be very interesting. He is one of those professors that is willing to give an A if you put in the work for it. The book he wrote for western civilization is very well-written and I learned a lot from it. He is very knowledgeable and a nice guy!

I have not learned anything different than from my previous Global classes. Do not take Western Civ with him. You buy a $50 textbook just to do 6 questions for homework every Wednesday. His written textbook is lacking information. He only lectures on Fridays because Mondays a group of students present and teach the chapter of the week!

My second class with Dr. Waddy. 6 equal parts of the grade: participation, group project, indiv. project, paper, and 2 tests. Attendance not mandatory, a lot of student-led teaching, which I don't love. Brilliant guy though, friendly and helpful if you ask for it. Definitely a B grader, but if you read and put some effort in you'll get an A.

Professor Waddy pretty much expects you to teach the entire class to yourself. His homework on MyHistoryLab is ridiculously hard. He is a very hard grader as well. If you can take this class with another teacher, do it! Don't waste your time!

Dr. Waddy is a good guy. He cares deeply about the material and selects interesting texts. Attendance is not required, but participation is graded so contribute if you're there. 6 grades: participation, group project, paper, individual project, midterm, and final. He's a tough grader but if you work at it you'll be fine.

Professor was helpful. Going to class definitely helped. it was interesting to see other students do the teachings each week and give what they interpreted about the information. He would clarify homework for the little that we had and cleared his test questions if he was unclear. Jeopardy really helped for the tests.

Waddy is boring. He expects you to read the assignment, and allows you to ask him questions about it, and then class is over. Two tests all semester and hardly any homework seems crazy. He does not provide any review for the exams and they are very specific questions that I had a hard time answering even after I read the book (which he wrote)

I'm going to honestly say that if his classes had mandatory attnedance I would fail. I actually probably am failing already because he's so boring. Teacher? Teaches nothing. He makes you read the chapters and asks "Any questions" (while sipping on Disani) 20 times and makes awkward silences every 4 minutes in his class. Don't do it to yourself.

Waddy told us at the end of classes that he wanted to get into politics. I'd vote for him! He's got a great sense of humor and will give you the grade you honestly deserve, which is rare to find in a professor these days. You'll have to keep up on the reading, but once you learn how he grades and take advantage of it, the class is great.
