Mr. Welch is the best professor ISU has hands down. Lot of these comments people make is because he is hard and he weeds out the people that don't care. He is hard but the best teacher I have ever had.

All he does is read slides and thinks that because he knows it you will know it. The problem is he greatly lacks any real teaching. He does teach some students privately and then he wants those students to teach us and work together. Like some big game of telephone. By the end of the game the message is never the same as it started, and you suffer

Miss class you won't pass. Material presented is challenging. You have to work together as a class to pass, teamwork makes the dream work. Lots of time outside of class is required for studying. He's hard, but reasonable, very professional.

Bruce Welsh is a hard teacher, but that is only because he demands that you learn something in his class. He is by no means a push over. His class do prepare the students for the real life experience with in the aviation industry. He is defiantly helpful, he wants you to succeed but it is up to the individual student to work at it.

If you're a freshmen, or taking his weather class then you're going to hate him, and you're going to think he hates you. Let me tell you though, he does not hate anyone! He can be the most intimidating and seemingly cruel teacher, but he's actually a very nice, and helpful guy, just respect him, show up to every class ON TIME, and read the material

I liked this class and the professor. Welsh presented most of the material, but did have several students get up and read the presentation from the powerpoint. It was not hard even if you did not read the text. Welsh would ask questions to see if you were putting effort into the class. I learned a lot about aviation and weather.

Not a difficult class if you studied the text. The text is online free or you can buy the Gleim text. Lots of material that was sometimes difficult, but if you read the text and helped each other, it made sense. I learned a lot from this class.

Absolutely worthless class. He barely taught us. Every day a different student was selected at random by him to present the whole or partial chapter. So, because we knew nothing about what we presented to class, we were unable to effectively teach the material. Most of the students in my class did poorly the majority of the semester.

Very good class. I learn a lot about the King Air, flight planning, SOPs and checklist, and in working together as a team. Welsh's checkrides are tough, but very fair. Welsh is one of the few aviation professors who cares about his student's success. My Sim instructor was also very good. I highly recommended this class and professor.

Demanding class that paid off if you put effort into it. Welch is big on teamwork and learning how to use resources. I took this class seriousely and prepared early. Some students waited till last minute to start preparing, thus there work showed it. There are few professors who care about you learning what is needed to be successful.

Clearly the comments made above were bought or manipulated in some form. I found this teacher to be unprofessional, demeaning, and rude. Students actually taught the classes as they did presentations for each chapter. Makes his own rules with no exception to printed material. If he states your wrong; your wrong no discussion.

Great Teacher! After taking Mr. Welsh's weather class, I did not miss any weather questions on my instrument rating written exam. He is very good at explaining weather phenomina, and always makes sure you understand. You must study and work hard to earn above a B in the class. I like that he lets you work in a "crew" on quizzes and assignments.

Weather is one of the most important classes you can take, Welsh makes sure you understand it and is a lot of FUN! His emphasis is on the importance of TEAM WORK which is essential in this industry. I will always take a Welsh class.
