Breyfogle is a very intelligent man, there's no denying that. However, his teaching is unfortunately subpar. It is very hard to follow along with his lectures but the Mastering CHM is what is only important. Without online assignments and teaching myself, there is no way I would have done as well. Would not recommend for advanced classes.

Dope professor. Made a fairly difficult class very manageable. Do the work and put in the effort studying for the tests and you'll be alright. Good luck my fellow bears!

Breyfogle is such a nice professor and he even wrote a recommendation letter for me. His lectures are very clear and to the point and he adds in some humor and even cool demonstrations at times. He is very good about going over homework questions in class and relearning a topic if the class doesn't understand it. Overall a very good professor.

This class was very similar to AP chemistry in high school. He assumes you've taken chemistry courses in the past, so if this is your first chemistry course in a while be ready to teach yourself. If you do the Mastering Chem questions and put in a little effort, getting an A isn't very difficult if you're a science major.

He teaches by the PowerPoint (which is provided online) which is derived from the book. He assigns homework problems on Mastering Chemistry through BlackBoard for every chapter. You'll have to pay attention and do the homework to do well on tests. However, he is very willing to help and is a very smart guy.

I would recommend taking Dr. Breyfogle's classes if you get a chance. Super smart guy. He knows his stuff inside and out and is a human calculator. He is more than willing to help you if you need it. Tests come from powerpoint slides which are from the textbook publisher. Expect 1 to 2 homework assignments per chapter with between 30-60 questions.

His class isn't by any means "easy" so if your are just looking for an easy A, try again. But he really does care about the students and will offer help in any way he knows how. He is hilarious in class and I enjoyed having him as a professor :)

Great professor. The guy's a human calculator, he's unbelievably smart. You HAVE to pay attention to do well, but as long as you do and understand the homework you can pass the tests. He's always willing to give tips and whatnot.

Bryan could be a really good teacher, but he is just way too dull sometimes. He is very fundamental with his teaching and spends too much time going over the specifics of a problem. Tests were difficult, but it is possible to do well on if you are able to pay attention in class. He is also incredibly funny at times, but he has a dry sense of humor.

Bryan is dope, but he is too smart for his own good. Sometimes he assumes students already know what he is teaching, so he will breeze through the fundamentals and go right into complex examples. However, if you take the time to go ask him questions, he is very helpful and a pretty funny guy if you like dry humor.

I am taking this as an honors class. It has been so hard for me to follow him. I have to learn everything on my own time and it is soo stressful. He brings up the most ridiculous examples in class and it does nothing but confuse me. He is so nice and has good intentions but is way too smart for his own good. Avoid if you don't already know chem.

Breyfogle is very helpful. He makes all of his powerpoints and notes available to you, gives ample time to do all the chapter quizzes and is intent on helping you if you have questions. He explains things until you get them, not just stopping whenever he's bored of it. VERY helpful. Awesome teacher. Go to class and study a bit, you'll do great.

Breyfogle was awesome! He was very helpful with all questions that arose from students. He tried to crack jokes quite frequently, some funny and some not. He puts the Powerpoints on Blackboard, so it isn't really required to go to class, but it is very helpful because he explains things in more detail. I would definitely recommend taking him!

Breyfogle was a great teacher, his lectures are right off of the powerpoint and then some. The tests are very fair and if you keep up with the quizzes and book assignments it is a doable class. However if you do not attend that could be an issue, but I always attended class. Also he is one of the most helpful teachers I have had and is always nice.

Awesome teacher. Had him last semester for Honors 160. The guy is a genius, so he knows his stuff. At the same time it makes him a little hard to follow because he can't filter all the things he knows when teaching. If you ask for him for help he will always help you. If there is one thing he is, it's helpful.
