I just gotta say, if you can avoid her, avoid her. All homework and assignments are due each week online, and trying to figure out what's due when is a nightmare. I feel like she really doesn't care that much because she's retiring soon. This is required for all dietetics majors, and for 1 credit hour you do 3-4 hour credit work.

Attend class and do your homework. She really cares for her students, but I think if you are disrespectful and lazy you may have a hard time. She does present a lot of work for the classes but she has a lot of great material and you can learn so much from all of her classes. Participate in class, be positive, and learn something. Great teacher.

Carmen will come off as abrasive and unkind, but she does care about students succeeding. Be warned, this class is an absurd amount of work for one credit with papers, and online quizzes, in class quizzes, and writing assignments every week. Unfortunately its required for dietetics so you just have to soldier through it

She's tough and sometimes mean to students but that is just her personality. Try not to email her if possible and she enjoys class participation.

Not good about emailing students back. I've emailed her about the same things several times with no response. She is not good about putting grades in the grade book in a timely manner. The class is called "Choose My Plate", but she consistently goes along with the USDA guidelines and doesn't seem to like it when students critique them.

Carmen can be very disorganized and comes off very mean but she really wants the BEST FOR YOU. She tries to make you realize what you are getting to and the work that is to come in future classes. She can be unclear but she puts everything online and if you are given an assignment, write it down, because she probably won't mention it again.

I thought Ms. Boyd was a good teacher for GEP. Yeah, she was disorganized but she kept a syllabus so just go off of that. She liked the students that actually participated and got to know her! What instructor isn''t like that. My class was linked with BMS and it wasn't bad. Nothing hurts with some extra help here and there. GOOD LUCK FRESHMAN.

Awful teacher. She cant teach the material well, and is incredibly disorganized. She is strict and takes this class WAY too seriously for what it is. She will make you and your fellow students all want to drop dietetics because of her bad attitude and discouraging words to students. have fun :)!

Carmen comes across as being harsh, but she really does care about her students. She's very busy, and she isn't very organized so the class is more difficult than it should be. The tests are ridiculously hard for the subject matter. She expects you to memorize pages and pages of details. I'm an A student but I only got an A on one of her tests.

Very hard course. She doesn't seem nice at all at first but it once you talk to her. Class is very overwhelming and tests seem impossible. There are enough quizzes online and participation points even if you get D's on all the tests you should be able to pull off a B.

Carmen is helpful to students that go talk to her. She was really great to me all semester and her tests were fairly easy. You just have to show her you're willing to work hard and she will help you! Attendance means a lot as well.

Very bad attitude most days, and very hard to be personable with. Never has time to talk outside of class and doesn't give hardly any direction for assignments that she gives if she even mentions that there is one. The class power points were not organized well for easy discussion flow. Boring and hated going to class.

Unorganized, not pleasant, and inconsistent. Most pointless questions were on tests like "what is peanut candy in Africa called?" Never came into class with a smile. Changed our final location 4 minutes before we took it! Never reminded us of upcoming homework. Did NOT give you correct ppt's for lectures. Also messed up my final grade...SHOCKING.

Carmen is a little hard to keep up with. Not very organized. Make sure you watch your grades, she usually has some sort of difficulties with BB. She is a very interesting person, though, with lots of experiences and information to share about several different places and subjects.

I took the linked GEP course because it sounded cool at SOAR. Don't take her for GEP. I never know what the heck we are going to do in that class. She never talks about anything until the day before it is due. Show up or you will fail!!

Horrible teacher. The class is supposed to be easy but doesn't give us much information on anything. Plays favorites and pretty much says if you don't have A's your not going to succeed at all in life.

Fair professor. Easy class. She comes off as being a tough professor but is fair at grading. She is VERY busy since shes head of the Dietetics department which makes her unnaccessible at times. Points are easy, requires minimal studying.

I am a senior and this is the hardest, most ridiculous teacher I have had in my four years. She never gives herself enough time to finish notes and covers entirely too much information for each test (or should I say, doesn't cover). She loses students' papers as well. The tests are impossible. It doesn't matter how much you study. Good luck!

She is the most disorganized person I know. She has too much going on with other jobs in her life to care about teaching classes! The tests are ridiculous and the study guides are mostly pointless. You just don't know the grade you will receive at the end!
