Comment:
Dr. Lin is good, this time the class was taught as a hybrid course. Watch the videos and do exercises to prepare for exams and you will Ace them all. Class time was used to answer questions and is not mandatory but helpful if you are confused in a topic. I learned a lot about topic.

He was an amazing professor. Though, he was sometimes hard to understand with his accent, he was really smart and knowledge able about the topic and tries to help us understand better. His tests were easy too. Overall, I think his class was one of the bestfunnest class I've taken at state!

Doctor Lin was probably one of my favorite professors in my three years at SDSU. I had him for Stat 325, 510, and 520, and I can honestly say that I really learned a lot from him. I especially like how he implemented computers and research into the coursework, and he engaged us to think empirically and scientifically. Highly recommended.

Comment:
I took Dr. Lin for STAT 325 and 510. He's a very nice man, and his teaching methods were fine for 325 since it was programming, however they were extremely insufficient for 510. He barely writes anything on the board to take notes from, and gives no examples. His exams are worded really funky. Thank God I took 350B before or I would have failed.

This class starts off easy, and quickly shifts into the 6th gear of HARD! DO NOT underestimate that 2nd exam, it is very difficult. Fortunately if you do better on one exam, he will weigh that one higher on your final grade. There were only 5 homework assignments, and 2 exams + final. He is very nice and approachable.

Prof Lin is amazing, and is able to explain complex concepts in a way that is understandable. He is more interested that you understand the concepts rather than tediously crunching numbers. There were about 5 homework assignments (using SAS), 2 exams + final, and one group project + presentation. Don't procrastinate on starting that project!

Comment:
Dr. Lin cuts a LOT of slack. Really patient. If you're not a math person, attend the lectures and ask questions. 1 Minitab assignment, 10 HW assignments on MathXL, 2 exams, & 1 final. That was it. I bought an older edition book to save $. It worked out fine. His accent is a bit thick, but I didn't have a problem with it.

Lin is an EXTREMELY HELPFUL professor. He is perfect if you are not good with math. He goes at a slow pace and if you get lost and don't understand just feel free to raise your hand and ask. He is very patient! Yeah he has an accent but its only hard to understand the 1st week or so. You get completely used to it. I truly recommend him!

Really unorganized and unclear. If you're not a math person, try to take someone else. You might feel like you have to teach yourself at times. It's kind of hard to understand his accent, too, so try to sit up front if you can.

He's a nice guy. You can't really understand him, but he's helpful. You never even use the book, so don't buy it. You just have to print out notes from blackboard. Make sure you show up to class because what he lectures on is what will be on the quizzes/test/midterm. Overall, I liked the class. I fully understand stats now. Must take him!!!

I took STAT 325 from Joey in 03, and finally learned SAS. (I took 2 other SAS classes with less luck.) I now work as a SAS and SPSS programmer/consultant for two San Diego area businesses, and I'm not even a stats major. This class is well worth taking if you are an econ major or need to learn SAS.
