Comment:

She is a very knowledgeable teacher who knows her stuff about Blacks in the Diaspora and around the world. Just read your novels, write your papers well and you will definitely get a good grade. Plus, show her respect and do not talk during class. Of course a professor would get made if you are not respectful.

I usually never do these but for Temple I had 2, this teacher SUCKS! She is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. She unclear and honestly I dont know how other people can say shes nice and understanding. She changes the syllabus at will, and is NO help. I tried several times to get help during office hours & got nothing STAY FAR AWAY FROM HER!

Terrific teacher, nice, funny brings up very interesting arguments and topics. Her lectures are very thought provoking. She could use a little help in structuring her classes but otherwise was a joy and one of my favorite teachers so far.

Dr. Temple is a great teacher and picks excellent novels to read for studies in Black fiction. I learned so much from her class and had no intentions of taking it to begin with. She's very understanding, but there is a lot of reading. The final paper is intimidating, but there is so much to write about.

She is really cool. Plus she cute. Shes young and she really understanding if you have personal troubles comin to her class. I bought the book but didnt read it. I failed all her exams and pop quizzes but still ended up with an A. Trust me. If you come to class and speak up on certain subjects, ull get one too.

She is a little unorganized but smart people usually are I guess. Her readings are good and if you follow them by the end of the semester you'll learn something about the subject and probably more stuff you didn't expect to learn. Great discussions, usually at least one pop quiz and 2 exams (midterm and final).

I took her class for WMST 370 also and loved it both times. she is incredibly intelligents and really funny. i would be taking her literature class next semester if it didnt conflict with a required class for the AFST minor which im only doing because i loved her classes so much.

Dr. Temple is a smart woman but not a good teacher. She likes to hear herself talk but nothing that comes out of her mouth has anything to do with relevant material that she will later hold you responsible for. She does very little in the way of preparing students for her arbitrary and unnecessarily difficult exams. NO SENSE OF STRUCTURE!!!

At the beginning of the semester, the class was great. But by the end, it was a total disaster. She did not tell us what we had to know for the final exam. So we were shocked to see trivial questions that had little to do with the key concepts of the course. She is a nice woman, but her exams are simply unfair and tricky. She lies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Dr. Temple. She's great and very funny and outgoing. However, if you are looking for a structured class, this is not it. The assignments are unstructured and she usually gives information on them at the last minute, and sometimes its unclear on what she wants. However, a great class, definitely reccommend taking it with her.

Dr. Temple is amazing. I've learned so much from her this semester and I definitely recommend taking any AFST class with her. She knows a lot about the subject, but remember to keep up with the readings. She will have random quizzes on them throughout the course of the class. The tests are not that bad and she is a very friendly, awesome professor.

dr. temple is one of the best teachers i've had at umbc. her notes are all over the place and she gives maybe 1 or 2 assignments throughout the year besides the midterm and final. easy grader and is VERY interested in the subject. class discussions are always interesting and she tells crazy stories. i DEFINATELY recommend taking her class

Dr.Temple is one of the greatest teachers at UMBC. She is very intelligent and brings her experiences to the classroom. She is very helpful, she just wants her students to learn. She really cares about her students and will go to all extremes to help someone if they are struggling. Readings are excellent and very interesting. I definitely reccomend

Even for a 200 level class,very easy. Lots of INTERESTING reading but it is broken down by dates ( you read a certain amount by a certain date). Very liberal grader, just wants people to learn about Africana Studies and understand the dynamics. VERY HELPFUL

You gotta be some kinda slow in teh brain to not excel in her class, and she is a very liberal person, but dont take her if you dont like someone who embraces their culture, which seems to be some form of disrespect for the close minded? Great teacher, one of the best in the school.

I encourage you to take this class with Dr. Temple if you want an easy class. But, if you want to learn non-**** stuff, DO NOT TAKE HER. She expressed her dislike for the white race and total disregard for the existence of the Asian population on more than one occasion. But, she's really nice!
