Comment:
Normore is a competent professor. However, the class I took with him, Philosophy of Mind, was not engaging. I must mention that Normore answered any questions I had and was very patient with others. I do not recommend the class, but perhaps other classes with this professor would be more interesting.

I loved prof. Noremore BUT his grading was excessive in relation to how unclear his lectures are and in relation to his lack of OH + email communication. I loved his lectures but they did not link up with the assignments at all. Id love to take him NOT for credit but if you are serious about having a high gpa, avoid him.

Professor Normore's class was one of the most frustrating and confusing classes I've ever taken. By week 3 more than half the class didn't come to lecture because you gain more by not being there than by listening to his scattered thoughts. He says the same things each lecture and his slides are either just a title or just a block of text.

A truly amazing Professor. He knows what he's talking about and he really knows how to relate it to his students. He's very approachable and fun. I wish he taught more philosophy courses. He does go off on tangents but it is not detrimental to the overall understanding of the materials he records his lectures so you're not required to attend them

Outstanding professor. I took Phil 100B & Phil 154B with him. Extremely knowledgeable about the topics in his courses. Provides his own, creative examples. Doesn't read off of boring PowerPoint slide shows. Able to keep class interested & doesn't bore the class with monotony. Incorporates good humor into his examples. Highly recommend him!!

Excellent energy. A bit disorganized but a great communicator. He is passionate about medieval philosophy and it gets passed on. Learned a lot about how similar Descartes and Ibn Sina are.

Everyone knows Calvin is an amazing philosopher. But as a professor, he sucks. His lectures are ahrd to follow, and he is the most disoprganized man you've ever seen. He didnt answer emails, would never have his lectures ready, went off on tangents, and is not good at lectureing. If you need help, go to office hours-- hes better in that setting.

I had him for a metaphysics class and then took an Independent Study class with him at O.S.U.--of the professors I met there, he seemed to me to be the brightest, most curious and most humble of the pack.

He is about the Best Professor any one could have. He is above all, dedicated to his students. He is not easy, but more than willing to give as much help as you need. He has integrity and he is hands down brilliant! A very fair grader. Which is important because many of the TA's are problematic, some are good.

Since its ancient philosophy, probably harder to teach, and Normores idiosyncrasies make it harder to understand. Extremely knowlegeable about subject matter and doesn't need notes to lecture!
