Re: 4/14/11 If you had actually read the material and started the essay before the night before you would have learned more and gotten a better grade. I guarantee it. Blame yourself, not him. Dr. Horner was the best. he can only do so much, the rest is up to the students.

Amazing, out-of-the-box professor. I loved all his lectures, never a sleepy, boring moment. He will scream and jump around like a mad man if it will get a point across more clearly for his students. I left the class feeling accomplished. Do not leave the final paper to do last minute.

If you get an "A" on your midterm and do poorly on your essay (which is a huge part of your grade) he'll let you redo the essay. No joke. My friends had it happen last year and I had it happen today. Talk about Caring Carl Cat =)

"4/29/05--Horner RULES! Wimpy students--stop whining and exercise your brain! Take his class if you want to learn to be a better writer and more thoughtful reader. I would love to take another class with him-even though it will be challenging." Thank you for saying exactlyl what I wanted to!

He is crazy. He does care about you and tries his best to teach you, but his over the top insaneness and dry topics make it impossible to succeed.

Merlin rocks. He loves connecting modern stories/people to classic lit/characters. He's super clear and listens. Great feed back on papers, too.

I know that Dr. Horner will approve of me using this opportunity to make a point to my students. This is the second time I am rating him for this course. I guess it's a good thing my experience with him was a good one...15 years ago. :)

Dr. Horner is an amazing professor who truly cares about his student's learning experience. His syllabus states EXACTLY what he expects and wants. The only way a person can do poorly in Horner's class is if they don't read the syllabus and talk to him about any confussion about the text.

The rockstar English professor. His passion for literature coupled with showmanship made for interesting, hilarious, often moving lectures. Required one essay, of which he provided extremely thorough criticism. Horner taught me the importance of attention to detail as a reader and a writer, and his enthusiasm for the craft remains an inspiration.

I had 4 classes with Horner. I liked him after the 1st one. However my opinion of him steadily dropped after each course. His personal insecurities (he needs you to love him) and issues get in the way. He ends up being repetitive, intolerant of differing opinion, way off topic...ultimately super frustrating to sit through.

The only man who knows how to properly communicate how to write amazing rhetoric. He is going on sebatacle next semester. He should be teaching writing classes because he is insane in literary ones. His tests are three words out of his mouth during lectures. If you go talk to him you will get an A if you talk to him outside of class

Dr. Horner is crazy, but his grading is easy and it's not hard at all to get an A in his class. I was nervous at first because I never knew what he was talking about, but his multiple choice test questions are taken verbatim from what he tells you to take notes on. The paper was confusing, but all you have to do is elaborate on everything you say.

People either love him or hate it, and it all comes down to whether or not you've had more than one class with him. Take him more than once and you soon realize that he BARELY knows enough to fill a semester. I had to take him twice in a semester once, and I just stopped going to the second class. He never realized it.

He is passionates, but honestly, he really does not seem like a good teacher. Everyone I talk to in the class feels so stressed out and anxious after his class. It is so difficult to say anything bad about him, though, because he does seem to care about you.
