He lectures the entire class without using slideshows or anything. You're lucky if he even opens up Canvas the next time he teaches a class. He's nice and super willing to help you out if you ask or shoot him an email. He gives you a list of everything that will be on the midterm or final the day before, so GO.

Dr. Malm can get kinda boring sometimes, but if you've got to take 100 level history courses at UAH, take Malm. He is straightforward about what is going to be on the exam and he is not a hard grader on the paper.

Dr. Malm is a good old-fashioned teacher. Every class he lectures the entire time, and gives notes in form of lists mainly. He is a great teacher with slap-stick humor. Can miss up to 12 classes. The only three grades you have are Mid-term, Final, and a single book review. One of the easiest, most informative teachers I've had. Definitely recommend

I loved this class! He was very interesting, but I would not suggest taking his classes if you do not like lectures because that is all he does. Grades are based on essay, midterm, and final. Attendance is not that important but will help with exams.

Final grade is based on the mid-term(25%), 3-6 page primary source essay (25%), and final (50%). Final is not comprehensive. Never used the book but 5 questions on test come only from reading the text. +3 to your grade for missing no more than 4 classes. Pay attention to check-marked items and lists. He is such an amazing teacher and really loves history. He is unbiased and is very laid back. His passion for students was so sweet! He is funny and tries to keep class fun. No memorization of dates required also. I loved this class!

Amazing professor! I hated history before this class, but now I love it! (at least World Hist.)He tries very hard to offer objective information and leave out personal bias. Only the quick will catch it. But regardless, his fair method of presenting all angles of a religion or philosophy was refreshing to experience. Take him if you can!!

Malm is a cool teacher. His jokes are a little dry but they are nevertheless funny. He teachers the material. His test cover exactly what he says they will. The paper you must write for the class isnt graded hard, or maybe im just a great writer lol. You must attend class, he even gives you an extra point if you dont miss a certain # of classes.

Such an easy teacher to take. Very helpful and willing to listen. Sometimes he may drift off into another conversation while explaining important people and you may lose focus. He is somewhat boring but he's fun to be in class with. Pay attention in class and study the notes, and your going pass with flying colors. I'm taking him now for 101

Malm is the best lecturer I've yet to encounter. He really sucks you into the when and where and why of history. It ceases to be dates and names and takes on a relevance that real people have. Pretty cool guy to make it that interesting. :) As for the class, be prepared to take good, handwritten notes.

This guy is simply fantastic. Very lenient grader, knows his stuff, and has a great sense of humor (very Norm McDonald-esque). Will give you lots of things to "discuss with your friends over your favorite beverage," hahaha...take Malm if you have to take history!!
