Like all psych professors he lets you turn in extra credit. Here's a tip: You'll need that e.c. He lectures straight from the book and gives weekly tests but will drop the two lowest scores. Read, read, read. If you miss class you need to get notes from someone. He makes you work for an A but you'll learn a lot if you put in the effort.

Inferential Statistics is hard enough as it is - Dr. Scott gives zero instruction and does not explain the material. Your textbook is your only hope. You will have a test EVERY WEEK and several assignments.

Dr Scott is like any professor, he will do his part to educate you, but as a student you must do your part and be prepared and put forth the effort. His door is always open and has never turned a student away looking for help. He is funny, well versed in many aspects of psychology and always up for discussion whether its moral or parapsychology.

I belive that he tries to present this material in a funny/entertainable way to make it easy for us to understand. Helpful although it is rather difficult to study for the tests because they are mainly focused on the text rather than lectures.

This is college people, if you are willing to take control of your education and listen to him, take notes, and form study groups, you'll be fine. Keep in mind a lot of these reviews are coming from first time freshman who arent used to working on their own, not being handfed, Awesome professor, if you care about your education, he'll care too

Dr. Scott is a wonderful man. His classes are funny and entertaining. His tests seem hard, but in my experience, most people come out of his classes with high grades. The only days you really have to work are the days before tests. He puts everything you need online. He is very approachable and willing to help outside of the classroom

Scott means well, but sadly, he's not a good professor. He doesn't always show up to class, and when he does, he's late. He's extremely nice and funny but focuses too much on being entertaining instead of being a good professor. He rarely teaches anything relevant to the book or to his exams. A straight-A student will likely make a B in his class.

Seriously, the worst teacher of my college career. I have a 3.85 and I struggled to make a B- in his class. The tests are over really hard things - none of which are covered in class. He's pompous, caddy, plays favorites, and doesn't like to help. A kid in my class made a 4 on the AP stats exam... he's making a C in the class. Scott is awful.

He is funny and nice but doesn't really teach the material. You will have to figure it out on your own. Homework's really important. The tests were totally hard. However, he will work with you if you need it-- he let me turn in all my hw late at the end of semester + extra credit to get a B in his class- which I appreciate!

You will teach yourself. If you are not great at math it'e be hard. As far as the personality goes, he wants to to think he is intresting and funny but this is only on the surface. Dont depend on him to explain answers or help you with any questions you have.

What a huge let down. Can't tell you how long I looked forward to taking a psychology course at St. Thomas. Scott was like a lead balloon. He showed no passion in teaching at all, in fact he seemed annoyed with students. He let you know that he was doing you a favor if he assisted you in any way. He made me regret going to St Thomas. In my opinio

A very nice guy but a lousy teacher. You'll have to put in quite an effort and teach yourself. The actual material is not that difficult once you understand it. The problem is trying to learn it while surrounded by people on computers, surfing the web, checking Facebook, etc. It gets distracting, especially when the teacher is boring to begin with.

very easy class, but you'll probably have to teach yourself. most of it is homework and reading the book if you don't understand. the material's not that difficult. he's cut & dry. you *have* to take it anyway for the psych major, so it doesn't matter.
