I think she means well but she is not good at teaching. Her tests are impossible. It doesn't matter how much you study for them you'll still do bad because she words the questions so confusingly. Seems nice when you talk to her but she doesn't listen to people's concerns about the exam questions. Lectures are very dry and dull.

I think she is trying to teach us well. But the thing is her exam questions are too ambiguous and much more difficult than what we learned. Even during class, when we do practice problems, she does not clarify which one is the answer. I think she needs to work on these parts

Dr Hass knows what shes talking about but displays her knowledge oddly. She is a solid choice for this class but her lectures are pretty boring. All classes take the exam, which can be difficult. Read the online tutorials and do the homework. This class is a "weed-out class" due to general bio being a popular major.

overall pretty boring lectures, but class isn't mandatory. tests are difficult, but all bio 110 classes take the same tests no matter who you have. the online tutorials are much more helpful than the lectures, if you read through them you will do well. having ap bio in high school is extremely helpful in this class.

Try to avoid taking her class. She is not helpful, and does not care for her students. Exams are very hard and do not correlate to what she teaches in class. She reads off of slides during lecture, and expects you to know everything.

Tests are extremely difficult and don't correlate with each other, so you never know what kind of style of test to expect. Go to office hours if you want to pass, the LA's teach better than the teacher.

Dr. Hass' lectures are extremely boring. The way he structures them is very odd. Take another professor. All sections take the same test which are very difficult if you don't have any background. If you take AP Bio this class is not hard but those who don't have a background struggle. LAs are amazing and very helpful. Attend their office hours!!

The lectures aren't very helpful. Most of what's on the exam is in the tutorial readings. The lectures are boring. Honestly, the clicker questions are the only reason I go.

Dr. Hass is well-respected and very intelligent. This course is very interesting, and a must-take if you are a Planet Earth fan. The exams and essays can be graded tough, but if you follow the guidelines, you will do fine. If you are struggling, do not hesitate to attend office hours or ask questions after class. Also, the field trip to Pitt is fun

Course was unorganized and 105 points out of the 300-point lab portion was due in one day. Lectures were long and boring. Tests were vague and instructors would always lower graders later without warning. Still don't have my final grade even though I took the exam last Monday. Pointless in-class activities. Lab grades got curved down at the end.

This class completely lacked in structure. The syllabus was constantly being changed. The lab and class did not coordinate at all. 1/3 of the entire lab was due on one day. Grades took WEEKS to be posted. Final was 7 days ago and still don't know my grade. Unclear graphs on exams. If you miss a single clicker you get 0 for the day. Worst class ever

Certainly the worst class I have taken this far at Penn State (and I am at over 90 credits). Lectures are dry and you can count on her going over time every class. Tests are so ambiguous, full of mistakes, and formatted terribly. Half the time you can't even read the graphs that you're supposed to be interpreting on the exam. Don't take this class!

Labs are curved down w/out evaluation of students actual work &as a student who has received A's in 400 level labs to have points taken off to even out the average seemed really unfair & frustrating. Tests are hard due to question wording not material. Everything is due on the same days for lab & exams. About 2/3s of points were after late drop.

You couldn't pay me to take this class again. Seriously, don't sign up for this unless your major FORCES you to. Exam questions are extremely ambiguous (multiple select questions, sometimes more than 1 correct answer) and are full of grammatical errors. Hardest undergraduate biology lab I have taken and about as enjoyable as a paper cut.

This class is a joke, in the sense that there is no structure that enables students to learn and understand ecology at its finest. For instance, the lab experiments were poorly implemented especially the plant growth and phenology one. Hass will make you hate yourself and this course. She needs to have better worded questions on her exams!

This class is designed horribly. Exams are hard even though clicker questions and homework are easy. The learning materials are terrible and hard to study from. Dr. Hass is a smart woman but she did not do a good job at putting this class together. If I could go back to last semester, I would have stopped myself from scheduling this class.
