Pros: no textbook, flexible deadlines, gives you the questions she is going to ask on exams (2 total), chances to rewrite essays and HWs for better scores, grades super easy Cons: Attendance is 100% mandatory, discussions were useless, unclear grading criteria, reads off slides most of the time, boring subject matter I'd recommend nonetheless.

I took this class for AH GE credit. As someone who was dreading the AH GE's I'm very glad I took this class! The professor is amazing! She really cares about her students, and is flexible and understanding with deadlines. She also has a great personality. This class had 4 hw assignments, 2 papers, a written midterm, and a final. Highly recommend!

Taught in about half German, half English. Explains topics too quickly, but you can just read the same information in the textbook if you didn't understand. About 3 hours of homework a week - lots of take home quizzes and worksheets. No final, and only 2 in class tests.

Go to lecture because sometimes she'll drop things that will be on the midterm/final because she knows people skip. Don't bother with notes (lectures are pretty scattered) just wait until she tells you what's on the midterm and search the ppts. Some hw here and there, but easy grading. Don't buy the book. Easy, but boring class; would recommend.

If you don't like reading or history or reading history, don't take the class. Lectures can be confusing because they jump around within different time periods. Very few homework assignments for a 5 unit class. Study guides are pretty solid for midterms and finals. Pretty chill overall.

Absolutely phenomenal lecturer. Expectations are crystal clear. There is very little work for a 5 unit class, just four short homework assignments and three 2 page essays. You don't need to do the readings if you pay attention in class. Class is very interesting and Arnett truly cares about her students, unlike many other professors at UCD.

Prof. Arnett is probably one of the easiest instructors at this institution. Although the course material requires a fair amount of critical thinking and prior background knowledge, showing up to class guarantees an A. Her testsquizzes are not the "gotcha" type; rather, she even goes over the testquiz material prior to its administration! Ez A

I'm an engineer that took this class as a GE. Dr Arnett is truly an amazing professor. Classes are focused on discussion rather than note taking. Course is very interesting and homework, quizzes, and papers are straightforward if you go to class. If you go to class you will get an A. One of my favorite GE courses at UCD!

Easy lectures, but this course is not that easy. You have to keep up with the readings and always attend discussion. She is very specific on what she wants her answers to look like. I wouldn't take again

I didn't like her lecture style. She would breeze through power points with little explanation. Luckily she puts them all online. I didn't show up a lot of the time but got a good grade. There are a good amount of assignments but they're easy. Quizzes every few weeks. The material was a little dull unless you like learning about wars.

She is extremely knowledgeable about what she teaches. She is hilarious and understands that we have other priorities. Very lenient when grading and tells you exactly what she wants on homework and essays and allows you to make corrections before giving you your final grade. Just do the work (you don't even need the book) and you'll get an A.

Dr. Arnett is an overall amazing professor. Her grading criteria is extremely clear. If you are attentive during lectures (showing up to class) and complete all assignments, there is no reason you shouldn't get an A. She allows re-writes and gives insight into most quizzes and midterms. Definitely take this class. It was a great experience.

This class was one of the best decisions i've made in my Davis career. The professor is so funny, and actually communicated with students like they were real people. SUPER easy class, and the expectations are always clear. I 100% recommend this class.

Her teaching method was different and there was a lot of busy work and the class required you to attend often. However, she's super chill and overall I learned a lot and was engaged the whole quarter. Easy A if you have time for the assignments.

Last minute GE class. The class got less and less interesting so I slacked off and got a lower grade. She does powerpoint slides, gives you the quizzes, lets you rewrite essays, and a super easy final. It should be an easy class but I just didn't enjoy it much.

One of the best classes I've taken at Davis. I really enjoyed her teaching methods. The essays and term paper were not difficult at all - her grading was VERY fair and she even allowed regrades. Her quizzes were also easy; she reviewed the material right before the quiz was handed out. Highly recommend her class!

Wonderful professor! Very knowledgeable on the subject. There is no reason to NOT get an A in this class. Doing the reading, the homework, and attending class makes the quizzes easy peasy. Essay topics are fun, and you can rewrite them until you get an A.

This class is a great G.E. class. The tests are straightforward. She genuinely wants you to succeed in the class...she gives you exam questions before hand and they're pretty much straightforward. On the essays, just make sure you're not talking gibberish. She lets you rewrite them if you don't get an A.

Professor Arnett is probably the nicest professor I've ever had. She tells you what the test will cover, so you probably want to go to class. Reading helps a lot, but you can manage without it if you pay attention. I would definitely take this class again!
