Probably one of the sweetest professors on campus, but unfortunately she's not that good at teaching. She follows the typical pattern of spoon-feeding you a bunch of info in hopes of you being able to vomit it back up later. She'll mention a complicated idea once in a single lecture and expect you to know it automatically. I learned nothing.

Awful. In addtion, very rude. I emailed her about a family emergency, she insisted me to tell her the "details" like what? Who are you to ask me that? She never even wished me luck dealing with this. She is heartless. She is a picky grader and she hasn't taught me much at all this semester. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Shes amazing. But you need to really understand the material. Dont memorize. Shes not about that (which I love) she wants you to be able to apply your knowledge of things she teaches so know it. She loves puzzle problems. Tests are difficult. But shes willing to help and she offers other points. Human genetics and genetics was amazing with her.

Shes a treasure. Shes so knowledgeable and will give you so much- as long as you make an effort. My advice, go to her office hours. Talk to her outside of class, email her. She will give you all the help in the world. But you have to ask for it. Her tests are difficult too.

No essay Exams at all, Quizzes and Exams just rewrite the packets over into your notes practice problems & you'll do good. The 1st exam is to make people drop study hard, 2nd-4th exams are problem heavy. This is not an easy class most people have had to retake it. I'm 3.7 GPA student who had to drop this class & retake over the summer for a C+.

To say that Dr. Hepfer is a great professor is an understatement. Not only is she knowledgeable about concepts in genetics, she is also able to elucidate content. For success, I recommend recording lectures due to them being dense. NEVER hesitate to seek help. Additionally, I recommend that you UNDERSTAND, rather than memorize.

Very confusing professor. She gives all of the instructions for the day at the beginning of class, and since there are a lot of instructions, it is very hard to follow them. Definitely makes bio lab even more boring than it needs to be.

ugh I really disliked her Genetics class. She bombards you with information and goes really fast. When you ask a question she makes you feel stupid for not knowing the answer. HARD GRADER! You can have the right answer but if it's worded differently than she likes it, no points. Essay tests.

Very difficult professor, due to it being a lab, if you miss and don't make up three or more classes you definitely will not pass. Tons of information, kind of hard to follow, graded lab manual at the end of the semester so make sure you do ALL of the work in it. Lots of lab reports that are a big chunk of your grade, participation is everything.

Her testsentence are impossible. Everybody I talk to in the class has a D or an F. She does not teach you enough for the level of difficulty of her exams and quizzes. Extremely tough grader. Prepare to do poorly.

Couldn't ask for a better prof. Knows her topic. Lectures were clear. If struggling, she will gladly help if you seek her help. Labs help integrate concepts learned in lecture with real life examples to increase problem solving skills. Somewhat harsh on grading research papers. Tests weren't overly difficult, but challenging, like puzzles. Study!

I had Dr. Hepfer for Genetics, Human Genetics, and this Human Genetics Seminar. There was only one exam in this seminar and 1 30 minute presentation. Participation is mandatory to receive a good grade. She is also such a sweet person.

Dr. Hepfer is an intelligent professor who wants to make sure that each of her students physically can apply their knowledge instead of just memorizing. She takes mandatory attendance that counts for 50 points of your grade. Her exams and quizzes are very challenging. I had a tutor and still could not get past a 90 with extra credit.Expect to work!

Human Genetics is an amazing course and Dr. Hepfer makes it even better. She is extremely helpful, but tests are rather difficult. If you study her review questions, you should be able to get a B on the exams. I would recommend that everyone takes at least one course taught by Dr. Hepfer.

Dr. Hepfer is the best teacher I have ever had. She is also my advisor and she is the most helpful woman in the world. She really wants you to succeed. The tests are hard so study! But you can go to her for help and she will do anything she can to help you. The lab is fun and relatively easy. And you get points just for going to class.

Had her in the spring for Genetics. Dr. Hepfer is a very good teacher, genetics is just a downright hard concept. Make sure you take excellent notes in lecture, stop her if you have a question, and study! Pretty much just memorize the packets word for word and do the practice test. And be able to apply everything to a real life situation.
