Expects you to know more then she teaches. If you don't have a music backround dont expect an easy A as I did. Must attend every class because she goes through notes at an electric speed! she plays jazz songs as half of the test and expects you to know the form, meter, and lead instrument even if we've never heard the song

I have a background in music so this class wasn't terrible for me. But if you don't have a music background, don't take this. She expects far too much from those who are new to music and is very condescending and attitudey when she thinks you're asking a dumb question. 7 tests, homework every class, and a final.

She is extremely fast-paced and seems very annoyed if a concept is not understood. She does not do extra credit, but provides extra points on most tests. It's difficult to keep up if you're inexperienced in music. If you don't do well on one test it will affect all future tests because you build on previous knowledge.

Dr. Nicholeris is very passionate about music. She is quite the storyteller, too. There's no book for the jazz survey class, and she doesn't use blackboard, so showing up to class is mandatory to take notes and find out when tests are. She goes over the test questions before the exam, and even gives extra credit opportunities.

Dr. Nick is a wonderful professor who gives plenty of extra credit on her tests and always provides a funny and interesting lecture. She takes the time to make sure you understand the materials and enjoys teaching this class. If you need additional help or explanations she is always available - just ask. No textbook, but a mandatory workbook.

Dr. Nick is a true musician. She knows what she is talking about and has lots of very interesting information to share. Non-musicians might have a difficult time in this class. She does go fast when doing notes and attendance is crucial. If you happen to miss class make sure you have a friend in the class that you can get notes from! Workbook used.

very smart but doesnt use text book so attendance is necessary. talks fast giving notes. teaches about music forms+meters and expects u to recognize them on tests. class supposed to be 4 students who know nothing about music but she expected u to know. Basically listened to her opinions. doesnt realize shes getting paid to to teach not say opinions

Dr. Nick is an amazing professor. She knows what she is talking about. She does her absolute best to make her students understand the subject. She is also extremely. I had some things come up outside of school where I was losing my mind (boyfriend on deployment, grandma sick) and she was the person who kept me sane. Love this woman. She rocks. Good

She's a doctor, so she knows what she's talking about. The problem is that she expects her students to know as much as she does. She doesn't understand that in a music fundamentals class, most of the class knows NOTHING about music. Gets angry when you don't understand. I really wouldn't recommend taking her unless you like getting berated.

I've had her multiple times and she has much improved as a teacher. She is difficult, but if you do the homework and go to class you'll do fine. Stay on top of the work and if you don't understand something ask!

Out of the five years I've been in college, this professor is the worst example of a teacher I have ever had! She has high expectations for her students to learn on their own, while she plays stupid movies all class that have nothing to do with the subject, and it gives her little time to actually teach anything. She is extremely unsupportive!

Dr. Nick is incredibly smart and is very philosophical about music. But you may hve a tough time in her class if you expect to be spoon-fed everything. You need to do the reading on your own and learn as much as you can outside of class, because sometimes she goes off on tangents that take up the whole period. Fun class, though.

I dont like her attendance/homework policy. If you miss 3 of either, its 5 points off your final grade. I also think she is VERY unfair with grading exams. She will make questions that you ahve to fill in the blank worth 7 points each so if you mix something up, you are screwed. Expects a lot for a stupid GER class I will never use for my major
