This proff was one of the worst proffs I ever had at ABU. I almost didn't graduate because of her. She is very anal and unless you suck up to her, you will not do well. Run from Linguistics as fast as your legs can take you. She is extremely picky on grading and will mark the littlest things wrong. If you suck up to her, you will do fine.

Not only is Dr. Thorne a very interesting teacher, but one who has first hand experience with this particular subject and therefore many helpful examples and alot of excellent insight which made it truly fascinating as well as much easier to remember and understand. She is great, sometimes a bit of a hard marker but usually quite fair.

While Lifecycle and Kinship is more interesting than Cultural Anthropology, Carol Thorne is an amazing professor for both courses. I really appreciated how she brought her life into the course, but at the same time tied the anthropological concepts to a wide range of examples. At times the plethora of examples was exhausting, but a great course.

I loved this class. Dr. Thorne is amazingly intellgent, and she is an interesting professor. It seemed like a lot of work, but I learned a lot. The final exam was intense, but if you knew your stuff it was OK. It's too bad that she's only coming back half-time, because she is defintely one of the school's best profs.
