She is very strict. Must stick to her rules. Ton of essay papers. Takes points off if don't show up for class. No bathroom break during class. Lectures were confused to understand. Lectures were heavy. Got a temper.

I had the pleasure of taking 3 different classes with Dr. Sheffield over 20 years ago. She had a very positive impact in my life and every now and then I still think about here lectures. Very thought provoking and relevant.

This lady is absolutely terrible, the class is extremely one sided and blames men for all of issues regarding women. The class is based solely on her views and attitude toward men. This class is basically her saying how women are oppressed and blaming men for every single issue and she makes you write multiple 12 page papers and is a tough grader.

She really make you work for your grade. 3 paper through out the sesmster 12 PAGES LONG!! she breaks it up to make it easier but most likely you will be stressed. no quiz or test. she grades way to hard most of the class only took this class because we had to. make sure you speak in class or she will call on you.

Great professor and I am so happy with what I learned! But I am not happy with what she did to my GPA. REALLY. HARSH. GRADER. I'm a feminist and loved the lectures and the class, but I don't think the effect on my grades was worth it. I'm an English major who wrote well above the page limit and still barely passed.

Before anyone takes politics and sex with this professor, ask yourself this, do you want to write 2 -12 page papers on 2 books that you MUST read, and the papers is also very harshly graded? If you don't follow her directions you will fail the papers no doubt. Other than that, there's only 3 papers for the entire class. Lectures are interesting. D+

Dr. Sheffield taught me critical thinking and how to recognize beliefs and attitudes underneath actions. It's been 7 years, and I still analyze and respond to instances of power and control because of this class. I would not be the counselor and advocate I am today without her providing the tools to really empower the marginalized and disadvantaged

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. For my major this class was only 1 of many electives for my UCC requirement. Dropped this course after 3 weeks and so did my friend. SUPER tough grader and a very nasty older lady. Only cares about her views on things and very overly opinionated. Made me uncomfortable and you have to write 3 12 plus page papers!! Stay away!

I have made an account on this website because of how necessary I find it to warn victims of this unethical woman. She drills ideas into students heads and does not allow opinions, she makes women feel there is nothing they can do about being oppressed by all men. I have been mentally traumatized after taking this course.

Probably my least favorite class I have ever taken. First of all, she is NEVER wrong and do not challenge her, you'll lose. Second of all, she gives the same assignments to all her classes EVERY semester, how about changing it up a bit? Have your class read a new book. BORING lectures and long. Keeps you pass the time your class is over DONT TAKE!

Dr. Sheffield is a professor that every student should have to take at least once. She provides a powerful insight into feminist ideas and the structure of the patriarchy. As long as you are able to open your mind and discuss the course material from an objective point of view, there's no reason you shouldn't pass.

She takes a lot of points off for being late or absent no matter what the reason is even if it is just a minute late. Very hard grader. Feels very strongly about the subject and is very knowledgeable on it. Pretty friendly but doesn't really help with understanding things in class.

Super harsh when grading papers. Not clear on what she is looking for in assignments. Misleading title to the course. This is a feminist women's studies course, hardly any real politics talked about. Information overload. Doesn't take breaks. Depressing material. Depressing readings, and lectures. Wouldn't take again. Should be retired.

She is clearly passionate about her work, and cares deeply for the subject she's teaching. The below disliking her seem to be the few individuals that are unable to open their mind- something mandatory for the progressive coursework she teaches. It's a lot of work (3 papers basically) but it's worth it as you learn plenty, and it opens your mind.

Dr. Sheffield is an amazing professor who is not only passionate about her work, but about teaching in general. Her own personal story is outstanding, and the class, though challenging, taught me more than any other class I have taken at William Paterson. HIGHLY reccomend!

She is, hands down, the best professor at WPU (after all, she was voted teacher of the year in NJ a few years back). She opens up a whole different perspective, unless you're completely closed-minded. It's super important for both men and women to take this class - you won't regret it. Attend, participate, and read the books, and you'll be fine.
