She clearly loves her subject matter, and is very knowledgeable about Acadian and French Canadian history. Assignment outlines were very unclear, and she was not very helpful when approached one on one. Make sure you are absolutely 100% clear on assignment expectations if you want to do well in her courses.

If you email her, she just directs you to the applicable lecture/textbook chapter instead of answering your questions. Great lectures, but her paper outlines were ridiculously confusing.

Avoid her. Lectures aren't too bad and she has great powerpoints, but grading is ridiculous. She gives almost no guidance on difficult assignments, and then afterward blames students supposedly not following the non-existent directions for the low average. Her quizzes ask arbitrary questions that do nothing to further your historical knowledge.

Definitely saw the heavy slanted bias she had against the British Empire, but a good professor overall.

HIST 124: Although this prof was mostly interesting in her delivery of lectures, overall I found her extreme French Canadian bias frustrating & limiting. She is however very clear when it comes to assignments, so this course is not that hard so long as you can supress the urge to have a free thinking opinion that differs from hers.

This prof was very frustrating because she had an extremely French bias. Don't expect to learn anything besides the French perspective. She left out major parts of history and totally wrote of the 7 years war saying that, "the French didn't care that they lost." Interesting...

This lady has to be the worst professor I have ever encountered. She hates everything about English Canada, has a warped view of what it means to be an Acadian (as an Acadian I can say this) and is overally one of the most ineffective lectureres I have ever encountered. Her understanding of Canadian history is "thin" at best. A total joke.

It's been 5 years since I took her class. In reflection, the worst teacher I have ever seen. If I was as bad at what I do as she is, I would be out of business in a month.

I had this professor three times at Queen's and each was equally frustrating. She has the habit of continually stressing that she teaches Canadian history without any bias, and yet tells her students that she is a separatist.

Rude to students in and out of class...totally unapproachable even when you've made an appointment or go to office hours, took marks if you missed class but failed to show up herself three times for an 8:30 a.m. class with no email/webct warning..her students are indeed an inconvenience to her. I no longer care about French Canadian History.

While Prof. Caron was very helpful outside of class, her remarks in class were rather rude. She did not seem to compherhend that she was offending her students. The only assignment is an essay, but you spend the whole year working on it. This includes two presentations of your work, and grading other peoples work. Overall, not a terrible class.

Horrible class. Waste of my time. I got an excellent mark...but I was infuriated EVERY SINGLE seminar. I know that profs all have their own biases, as do we all, but I would have respected her opinion more if she had either admitted her bias or was willing to at least listen to other ways of looking at things.

Caron is an english canadian hating prof who makes assignments and exams seem easy, but is very disappointed with english points of view and marks quite harshly. her teaching skills are not up to par with her expectations of students.
