Comment:
Coming from someone who is retaking acct 1, Rand was seriously an answered prayer. The first exam wasn't good for anyone and he let us correct it for half credit, and the next two exams were online in class. Rest assured you will have to work for a good grade but he'll help you get there. The monopoly project is brutal so start early if you can.

Rand knows his stuff and wants you to learn it just as bad. He is always there to help but only if you put forth the effort (you may wait awhile outside his office but youll get there). Make sure to take good notes, dont miss class, and PARTICIPATE. Monopoly project is by far the worst part of this class but get an early start and you'll do fine.

Most of the material was taught in short videos. We had six assignments and two exams, which were not graded until late in the semester. Also, he did not even bother to post final exam grades or respond to emails when I inquired about my grade. Do not take him if you want quick turn around. Very unprofessional for the head of the department.

The class was pretty much a stack of 5 year old videos and some assignments. Dr. Rand was very hard to get in touch with and didn't grade assignments until the very end of the semester - and with minimal feedback. Don't get me wrong: the videos are fine and the assignments made sense. Just don't expect input from the professor.

Reading is essential for this class. Covers material on exams not present in lecture and leaves out some content covered in lecture. New Book required, but uses old tests and old lectures. Many of the exams had improper information and uses verbage from old book not present in new. Overall very disappointed in this class & he's interim chair.

Dr. Rand is an excellent professor. I don't see how he is not rated higher! His exams are a little tough, but with some studying you should be able to overcome those obstacles. Also, for any accountants out there, Dr. Rand is very sharp and a perfect person to go to with questions about your accounting needs.

Professor Rand is a very good professor. He made accounting easy to understand and kept me interested. His tests are kind of hard but they made me study harder and learn a lot more. Also he curved some on each test and at the end of the class.

he is very focused on the application of accounting which is great if you are interested in becoming an accountant. He is very helpful. You must be early to tests or you risk being locked-out. I don't like that you have to pay for online web access to simply do your homework. The same problems are at the end of each chapter.

Rand is a wonderful professor and always willing to help! The class itself is not super easy, but he is always willing to help. His tests are kind of hard, but he states at the beginning of the semester you can fail 3 out of 4 tests and still pass the class easily! I would definitely recommend taking him!

He is a pretty good teacher and if you enjoy the material then you will enjoy the class. His test are very hard and you have to study all the material given to do well. If you pay attention and study then you will be fine.

DO NOT TAKE HIM! He grades way too hard. You are required to make a 60 or above on one test. Hw is online. If you get A's you basically can pass the class. I hated ACCT and he never helped me. Told me I needed to struggle. He doesn't teach just looks off the powerpoint. Avoid him unless you HAVE to take accounting. Messes up your GPA.

Rand, Seay, and Fesler all took over Intermediate I on very short notice. That said, I loved having Rand as a teacher. He covered material quickly in class, but was more than happy to spend office time with students. The tests were fairly difficult, but Test, HW, &Quizzes are all from the same bank so it helps a lot. Just Read, Read, Read!

Overall a good class... It's hard but I barely scraped out an A. He is fair and interesting but you will find problems on the test that are weird or that you didn't go over... I would say this class is above average but it is a lot of work...

I didn't like the class, I felt like the material on the exams had not been covered very well, I made a B in the class but it wasn't easy. Do all the extra credits and online homework and you will be fine.

Dr. Rand is a great teacher. There's alot of work but the only way to learn accounting is through lots of practice. I would take him again anytime.

I'm fairly certain Rand himself must be typing in his own reviews, I've yet to hear a good word about him from any student or professor at Tech. If TTU's Acct Dept is every to be respected in line with other top University programs, the bar has to raised, meaning this guy has to go. A perfect argument against tenorship.

Dr. Rand is a brilliant man. So brilliant that he has trouble teaching what he knows. I wouldn't recommend him, but I wouldn't discourage him either. He requires you to work, but ACCT doesn't come with ease. If you like being pushed and having a professor who cares that you will excel, then take Rand. (I would take him again.)

Dr.Rand is a very helpful teacher. He loves what he does and wants to see his students succeed. He has also done away with those pre-lecture quizzes bc students didn't like them. He still does online homework and gives you a week to complete it. I think the hw helps a lot because you CANNOT learn accounting the night before a test. Take Rand!

He gives online homework - which he NEVER goes over only if you ask him after it's due. If you need help just go and ask him - he can be somewhat helpful. His lectures are boring. Quizzes over chapter BEFORE you go over them in class. All online homework. Overall an OK teacher but I would not take him again.
