I loved taking Hum. Div. with Carrie. On the 1st week of class she can come off as really scary but that's because she is really passionate about sociology & only wants the people who are interested & going to take her class serious to be in it. She has a lot of recommended books to read but you don't really have to read all of them. Amazing Class

One of the greatest, most knowledgeable teachers I have ever meant when it comes to Sociology and social issues in general. She is a wonderful person and great to talk to. She'll tell her your opinion about anything if you ask nicely, though it may contradict with yours, just so you know. Cercratic seminar style teaching. Mostly discussion based

She rarely lectures, the classes are discussion based meaning that it is really important for you to do the reading to come prepared to class to discuss it. As long as you participate and do all the work, you will pass. Beware, there is a lot of reading, and writing assignments. She really cares and wants her students to succeed, take her class!

I truly enjoyed taking Human Diversity with her. She gives you a new perspective on traditional classroom settings and really makes you work to understand the importance of what you're learning. It's a lot of work but it is so valuable and needed to be a good human. She's also so understanding and so helpful! Don't be intimidated!

Carrie really cares about her students, values all points of view, is hilarious ask her about the wide-mouth frog joke and she is passionate about the subject. She requires a lot of reading but I am still reading the books she assigned for course--3 years later--but the books she chooses are fantastic. Take Carrie, she will rock your world!

BS class. Class in one sentence: obviously, treat others equally with respect. This class is for the close-minded Christians at APU. Assignments are obnoxious. Bus Ride really? Questions on essays go on for miles. MILES. Carrie is a nice and considerate person however. She will extend due dates for you.

DO NOT TAKE HER. Starting Fall 2016, nrsing students will not have to take this class. Prof never replies or explains. You're basically on your own. Assignments and readings are unnecessary yet mandatory to pass. Too much to write (almost as much as nursing classes). Unjust grading. And please, this class is nothing I that I haven't learned before.

One of my favorite professors at APU! She truly cares about each of her students and goes above and beyond to be helpful! She is very insightful and leads meaningful and thought provoking conversations. You learn a ton but also have fun and really feel cared about. Would recommend her 100%

Carrie is an amazing professor. There is a lot of work, but it is so worth it. Carrie is the type of professor that you want to work hard for. She expects a lot from you, because she puts tons of work into her lesson plans. Take her classes. Ways to pass: Attendance, don't text during movies, do the work, talk during class (even if you are wrong)

AMAZING class. It looks really scary at first with her 30 page syllabus, and there is a lot of reading, but it is ALL worth it! I didn;t believe everyone at first when they said the same thing and I was required to take the class, but it has been 4 years since I took her class and I use what I learned almost every single day! Best class I ever took

Carrie is a very nice and understanding person, but her class is too much. I took this as a required class(not pertaining to my major) and I was just overwhelmed. Her forums are horrible, and this class became a full-time job for me to do. It's not worth it to take over summer, you will have no life!!

If you're going to take Human Div, take it with Carrie. Not only do you learn so much, but your entire world changes.... And that's her goal. The work is a little tedious and overwhelming at times, but if you site frequently and work at it, you'll get a 100/100 on assignments. Make sure you buy most books. I rec kindle ed. BEST PROF EVER AT APU

As everyone else has said, Carrie's class is a life changing course for sure. I feel strongly that everyone at APU should be required to take it. With that said, the work load is above and beyond anything I've ever taken in my four years here. If you have a lot of work to do outside of school, this class will be nearly impossible.

This class is a serious life changer. You think you are an upstanding citizen until your eyes are opened to so many things you don't even know about. The 6-week online class is a challenge but completely do-able. You read a series of books as opposed to a textbook which is wonderful. Carrie is a wonderful professor and so helpful. Take this class!

DO not take her online class! Her essays and assignments did not make any sense for the online setting, and only confused me as well as the other people in the class. I've heard she's a great teacher, but I hated my online class. Her essay rubrics are long and confusing, and her assignments are unclear and stupid.
