Comment:

Despite M3330 prereq, students treated as novice proof writers. Homework every class, but tests do not reflect these proofs. Penmanship a must; stickler proof for exactness/completeness. Not accessible outside of class. Keeps the class evaluation envelope so he can read students' semester comments. Flat affect; interested only in his posed proofs.

Comment:

This teacher knows his stuff and shows you the easiest of ways to achieve a answer and cuts through all the crap in between. He goes over a good amount of questions all the way through so you can follow easy unlike some other teachers.

Just don't take him if you enjoy being graded fairly. He grades incredibly hard and gives you three points if you do all of the homework and attend all the labs. His lectures consist of going over the homework you did in lab. He teaches incredibly slow (2 example problems per class) and gives you very little insight on the topic.

the only things that make up the grade in this course are 4 exams and the extra credit hw only adds on 3 points to the overall grade which is not that much. Teaching wise, i would not recommend. It is hard to understand what he says in class and does not communicate effectively.

Dr bandy really knows his math. He gives you all the material in the form of worksheets he goes over in class. He goes over most of the problems in these worksheets and picks them up for extra credit if you do all of them in the packets. No textbook. If you work together with other students and you understand your notes, you can get a decent grade

the course is very disorganized. there is no textbook. not enough practice problems. it is very hard to understand what this teacher is saying. dont take him. he is also a very picky grader. he took 15 points off an exam just for handwriting.

This teacher is not for everyone. His reviews are nothing like his tests, which are tests that require application and understanding of complicated mathematical manipulation. He is pretty sassy, and becomes snarky when someone asks him a question. The only upside is that he allows you to bring a formula sheet on tests. But they're useless.

Dr Bandy is a very good teacher. His age doesn't slow him down. The material can be hard, but he gives you problems in an order that allows to slowly build on your knowledge. Very good teacher, would take again any day of the year.

He is one of my favorite teachers. He is straight in problems. He is very helpful any time, not only at office hours, but also if you email him. He is very fair in grading. He made me love proofs, and many students in our class with take analysis with him.

I took Bandy for Calculus 1. I really enjoyed his class. He gives about 5 hmwk problems every new lecture (you don't need a book). The only grades are exams but they are similar to the homework. Exams aren't like most math exams where there is a ton of material to cover. He is very straightforward and simplifies the work. I would take him again.

I felt Bandy was a great teacher. Each test has a review! (Most math teachers do not do this...) The tests are not too hard, as long as you know you're stuff. Make sure to show up to class and labs- he gives you extra credit (POINTS ONTO YOUR AVERAGE AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER!) No quizzes. He is old, but a great teacher. Don't need textbook!!!

I loved this teacher! I'm a math major so I need a teacher that I can really understand and this is my guy!! I'll sign up for any class he teaches! And the fact that he lets you use a cheat sheet on tests is awesome enough, but he doesn't even care how long it is! PLUS, if you have good attendance, he WILL reward you, TAKE HIS CLASS

Dr. Bandy is awesome! I'm a math major so math comes easy to me, but if you ask for help then he will help you. Your grade is based solely on five tests, so do the homework and reviews and know your stuff!! You're allowed a sheet of formulas and whatnot on the test as well. This class really made me like calculus!

The material is not hard, but the prof is picky. He is very unclear about his expectations, we never even received a grading policy. If you're stuck with him, be a kiss ass. If you can avoid him, do. There is no book.

He is nowhere near as bad people try to make him seem to be. He is extremely helpful and is very clear. It's up to you to ask questions & even with that he asks you do you understand all the time.

This guy is perfect for the laid back student. I never paid attention and only studied occasionally, my grade (a C) reflected that. Teacher grades really hard but is hilarious and entertaining (though extremely old). He is definitely willing to help anyone who is smart and cares about there grade. I would take him again.

Comment:

There is no textbook assigned with this class and the "notes" given are not clear. There is homework assigned, but it only counts for 3 points on your overall grade. Always came to class late, "taught" like everything was known. Dr Bandy is a nice person, but I do not think he cares to be teaching anymore, it shows. I would never recommend him.

Class is based off of 5 tests. Even if you attend class everyday and turn in all homework, he grades so hard on the tests that it's impossible to make a good grade. Don't take this professor.
