Love him! He tells stories which relate to the topic. The stories come to mind when you need to recall info. He does repeat himself, "due to the sorry nature of the crowd" You'll learn a lot if you take this class.

Dr. Hickey is hilarious! He gives great lectures, although he tends to stray from his original point, it usually has something to do with that days lesson. He loves the people in the front row and he picks on the back row. You have 3 speeches and 4 tests including final exam, PARTICIPATION IS A MUST!!!! Does not reply quickly to emails.

Dr. Hickey is a good professor and I enjoyed the class. The speeches themselves are easy to get a good grade on but I could see where tests would be hard if you did not study. Good class to take.

I enjoyed Dr.Hickey's class for the most part, however he didn't cover test materials well. Mostly rambled about his life. In the end I still got a good grade but I wouldn't recommend.

Professor Hickey was a lot of fun. I took him for the first 6 week summer session and earned an A. I learned a lot about human communication and also about myself. I do not recommend this class if you are lazy and don't know how to truly listen.

Great Professor! He does have a tendency to repeat himself but thats bc he wants you to remember what he says. Tests are easy if you listen to his lectures and take notes but he will not let you make them up if you happen to be absent.Gives you enough extra credit to cover any missing tests grades. highly recommended

Really enjoyed this professor, his information was helpful and interesting. Tests were a little difficult to understand, but if you studied what he told you to, you could definitely do well on them. Highly recommend!

Not very helpful. Exams were kind of difficult to take because he did not necessarily cover all the material. He did not have a great lesson plan...we got a few repeat classes and heard the same stories over and over again. Did not listen well to questions asked.

I think that junior college students don't quite grasp Dr. Hickey's wit and sense of humor. What a shame their "just out of high school" immaturity forces him to take off for tardies. His stories are funny and if he repeats them and it bores you cut out the Starbucks. I found him delightful. He directed the most sucessful speech/debate team at U

He like to tell stories over and over.. He says, "Have I told you this story about...." And that was the 5th time you heard it. I find his speech grading great. I haven't got less than an A on any of them. You have to go to class though. He gives a grade on that, its called Class Deportment.
