Most of this class involves watching lectures from other professors and esteemed journalists. We also watch movies and documentaries. We read other feature stories and discuss the style in class. It can be dull if you don't like watching things, but it is easy to do well if you turn in your best writing. Rivers gives feedback on everything.

Hmm. Aside from the fact that she's a dinosaur, she's okay. But, she goes on and on about stuff that was taught in JO309 and doesn't offer much in the way of further improvement. She goes off on tangents about her exp. with the women's mvt. and her days as a nearly pro tennis player.. relevence??

Prof. Rivers is a refreshing change of pace because she is not gloom and doom about the industry. If you can't tell if you are a good writer, figure it out. Then, take this class and learn what to do with your abilities. She truly does care and wants to help you learn how to be a success.

Love this woman. She didn't really ask for much copy-wise, but she loved hearing story ideas and giving input about how you could follow through on them. She's hip too.

She's a nice woman who knows a lot about the industry - she's just not much of a teacher. The most useful guidance was about advances and agents - not writing or anything on topic. Genuinely wants to help her students, though.
