Comment:

A good professor that's passionate about the material. A good balance of participation requirements and lecture--when the students cooperate. 3 tests, a few assignments, and some sporadic, unscheduled quizzes, all relevant to the topic. Whitley is great at making a progression throughout the material.

Comment:

Pop quizzes weekly (not exactly pop quizzes but still called them "pop"). If she didn't like your writing topic you would not receive a high grade. Explanation for grade was pretty much that... "You're writing is fine; I didn't agree with your viewpoint". Um... I don't agree with that as a grading rubric. Avoid taking because of these restraints.

I absolutely adore Dr. Whitley. This is my second class with her and it was a ton of fun, even though it was a capstone course. Her tests are hard, but if you honestly study you'll do fine. You HAVE to know the definitions if you want to pass her tests. She'll make you work for your grade, but she'll also help all that she can.

Assigns an insane amount of reading, pop quizzes most of the time to make sure you read. a ton of work but its funny. DOES NOT post your grades on D2L so good luck figuring out what you have.

Awful experience. If you like to be yelled at and judged for asking a question she's the perfect professor! Very unclear with what she wants and will talk ALL class about one thing. And DON'T fall asleep.. She will hate you. Just get on her good side. Oh, and NEVER have your own opinion on an author. She will rip you apart.

Best teacher ever. If you take an English class with her, you MUST read the book. DUH!! Why does this have to be said? Read the book, prepare to THINK, and if anything is unclear, go to her office hours. She will talk you through anything. If I weren't graduating now, I'd absolutely take more of her classes. She is wonderful.

Great teacher - my 2nd favorte at EUP. I'm an adult student, was hesitant about this class. I loved it. Great teacher, great lady. Makes every concept very clear and strives to make it fun for students. Do the reading, and pay attention, and you will get a good grade. Fun, entertaining lady, I am taking another course w/her next term!

Very easy class. If you do the paragraphs, study for quizzes, do the map kits you will get a very good grade. the final is 12 questions from the past quizzes so its super easy to get a perfect grade on the final. Very funny and very passionate about english and is always willing to help when needed.

Dr. Whitley is my favorite teacher on campus. I had her for English and Women's studies. If you attend class, do your assignments and participate you will do fine. She is an awesome teacher and is willing to help you if needed. She also gives a good bit of extra credit opportunities. I recommend her to anyone. She's a funny lady!

First of all I am by no means a straight A student and I do not like english very well. I believe she is a very good teacher. Always willing to help if you take the initiative. She is very passionate about english and wants everyone to do well. She is very picky but her grading isn't and the quizes are not that hard if you study a little.

Had her for Women's Studies. She makes it clear on the 1st day of class that this is not a male bashing class. It isn't. I found the class very informative and fair. She gives you plenty of oppertunities to pass this class. If you do the homework, review study guides for tests, and show up for class you will do well.

Dr. Whitley is awesome. She's really funny, and her class really sparks your interest in the material. She teaches her class in a way that makes it easy for students to relate to it. The tests are easy enough if you put effort into them, but you have to know your stuff. Don't lie about reading. She'll trick you into sounding like an idiot.
