Great Teacher, extremely Happy. She knew her material, and when I would challenge her intellect and wit, it was extremely interesting to see her fire back, she was a fantastic human being as well. One of the true joys at OCC, seeing as it's a 2 year college, you usually do not get teachers that are so poised and amazing at their jobs.

she'll absolutely pick her favourites early on, so hope you're in that group. a positive personality with a bit of british smarm. lectures generally go easily as long as the class participates. however, her tests require a LOT of preparation, and she certainly will grate the nerves of some. know what you're getting into.

Professor Hoult was an excellent professor!!! She is an asset to OCC and the education we receive as students. I love the British accent; it always made class interesting and kept me in tune with what she was saying.

I think she is a phenomenal teacer! I believe that one has to be a good story teller to keep history interesting, and she is just that! I think she is a great person as well. As long as you actively participate, go to class, and read the chapter assigned, you are sure to succeed in this class. I wish she were not leaving OCC. :-(

I hated this proffessor. I took her once in class and again distance learning. If you're not the perfect western civ student she treats you as if she wants you to withdrawl from her class. She only wants to teach if it doesn't require effort and her class is extremely boring.

This was the first DL class I have taken, and I found it to be really easy. If you have the time to read 1 chapter a week and do 1 assignment a week you'll do fine. There are a couple group chats where you discuss topics that she chooses, but they aren't difficult. I got an A and didn't have to work extremely hard. Would recommend :)

I had a really difficult time in her class. she expects u2 understand everything from the reading on ur own.In class her lectures are all from outside sources not from the book&her tests are really hard every test is different essay test in class,essay(takehome)w/mult choice n identification in class,take home test was insane.nice lady hard teacher

I took her Western Civilization 1 class Spring 2005 online and I am a History fanatic (not my major), so it was not that hard. Her essays were easy and weren't hard subjects. She helped a lot and was very understanding with any problems that I had. I earned a B+ and I really liked her as a teacher and a person. A+++

Tests are mostly essays, so if they're your forte, take this class. If you have personal issues, she's very understanding and will help you out if you really try your best. She is prone to give pop quizzes when she thinks students aren't reading the text and HATES when people are late, so beware.
