This was the best class I have ever taken. Fessler is one of the best professors I've ever had.. I highly recommend taking any class that he teaches. You NEED to write everything down and don't skip class because the tests are hard but you will pass if you pay attention and take good notes.

Hands down the best professor I've ever had. I take his classes any opportunity I get, and I will be taking another one of his classes next semester. Incredibly knowledgeable in his studies, shares personal experiences, and is always open for discussion. Be ready to write everything he says, and the tests will be easy. No homework either.

Very inspiring professor. His lectures are heavy so make sure you pay attention, attend class, and takes notes. He's very smart and really knows the material he presents. Helpful all you have to do is ask. If interested in anything cross-cultural he is the man to talk to. I Reccommend him to all psych students!

He is the best! The class is purely lecture-based, but his lectures are so engaging, intriguing, and interesting. He explains everything SO well and is crystal clear on all concepts. He frequently asks for questions and feedback. Virtually no homework. Makes psych relatable and makes you examine your life. He has amazing experiences too!

Fessler does not give any assignments out in Abnormal Psychology; you just take 4 exams over the entire course of the semester. It is better if you show up for every class because he does go through many different disorders and the content is easier to understand when you hear his lectures. If you miss a lecture you can get notes off of a classmate

Excellent teacher. Really smart, but doesn't make you feel stupid just because you don't know as much as he does. He really just wants you to learn and to think. He has a lot of experience living in other countries and cultures which is fascinating to hear about. And a great se of humor.

I took Dr. Fessler for Japanese Culture and it was fantastic. He's a great storyteller and the lectures are structured around his travelling stories and of course, research. We had two exams and a big paper at the end of the semester. During the last class he talks about travelling to Japan on a budget.

A born teacher. Every class is filled with insight, knowledge, life lessons, adventure and little cosmic asides that will blow you away. I think he's a boddhitsatva who is hanging around to point bewildered people in the right direction. Take him while you can because you may never find a better guide

Had him for Japanese culture, he made it fun. His tests are pretty difficult, you need to be VERY thorough in your answers. But his class is really interesting! He also assigns 20 chapters to read from the assigned book and you need to write a 2 pg paper for every chapter - that's the most difficult part. Definitely worth taking, he's great!

When he's having an off day (which is rare) he drops down a few levels to "simply brilliant". When he's at his best he takes you dancing through he corners of your mind. Pure joy.

I had Fessler for many psych classes. He's super interesting and broaden my understanding for psychology. Take his Cross Cultural psych class even if you're not a psychology major. It was one of the most intriguing classes I ever took at PPU. The tests are a little difficult but he always tells you exactly what you need to know before test day.

If you're searching for what college was meant to be before it became a business, take Dr. Fessler. Aside from his boundless knowledge of explain everything under the sun and your skull, he teaches from a distance that leaves you to have your own thoughts feelings and reactions to the material. He has neither arrogance nor ignorance. <3

Dr. Fessler is a very intelligent person. He knows what he is talking about. However, this class was very difficult. It consisted of only 3 exams based off of class lectures so it's important to attend if you want a good grade. I wouldnt recommend taking it as an elective if you arent a psych major.
