Comment:
I took more than a few graduate-level controls classes from Dr Johnson. Simply put, he is the best professor I've ever had. He is a great lecturer, a brilliant engineer and a very accomplished scholar. He also demands a lot from his students. Consequently, I suspect that any negative comments about him are from sub-standard students.

Dr. Johnson is a great professor. He definitely knows his stuff. His quizzes are hard to prepare for and his hw is tough. He does tell stories half the class that are mostly interesting/funny. As long as you right down his notes and study them, that is where his midterm/final comes from. Know everything, was not too difficult if you studied.

Nice Teacher. Very smart and experienced. Tends to go on rabbit trails in his lectures, however. Exams were not hard. Pop quizzes were very hard to prepare for.

Brilliant professor. Teaches controls intuitively, not by the textbook method. Study your most recent notes every day before class for the pop quizzes. Do all homework problems and research he assigns even though he usually does not collect them. Mid-term is easy, final a little challenging. With a little effort, this is an easy A-B class.

Pathetic! I learned more about the treatment of Jews being under the Nazi reign, than Control Theory. Yes, he knows his crap, but he refused to enlighten us with it. Never took up homework. Weekly "pop" quizzes. Will call you out in class to perform tasks on the board. Never received a syllabus. No clear grading method. Final project. NO CURVE!

He is a good teacher. His homework(25%) are easy. His midterm was VERY easy. His final was little hard. However, his scales. His class is interesting and he makes the material easy to understand. He is a good teacher despite all the bad rumors.

One of the best lecturers around. He could write a boon-on-tape about anything. He is one of the best minds in controls. Globally renowned engineer. Midterm (25%) is deceptively easy. He will only test on material covered in class. HW (25%) is on an 8th-grade level. Final (50%) is about the same difficulty as the midterm.

Did not give syllabus--so you have no idea what grade weighting will be for midterm/hw/final. He'll give you what he wants in the end. Lectures interesting from historical view, but repetitve. Tough in-class AND take-home tests for midterm/final. No examples worked in class. Homeworks were math derivations/proofs--NOT ctl theory.

He is an ok teacher, he doesn't give many examples in class and doesn't use the book. He's definitely old school, he won't bother to answer your questions unless you have tried to work your butt off to figure it out yourself. His midterm isn't that hard, but the Final was extremely hard, and it's worth 50% of your grade.

Yes, Dr. Johnson is egotistical, but he desevers to be. He knows Control Theory better than anybody I know. He can also be intimidating, but that's because he expects students to try their damnedest to figure out the problem before asking him for the answer. If you are truly interested in learning Control Theory, you couldn't find better prof.

Should retire. He knows his stuff, but he does not explain anything. He gives homework over what he doesn't finish in class. It is impossible to use the book to figure out what you are supposed to do.

Although I am only in the middle of taking this class, I already know this guy. Solve this simple equation right now: X = Y+2 where X =2. I swear, if he gives this for hw, he will spend days on it. Our first project was the"Power of thePenny."Are you serious?Dude can't even turn off his cell

Yes, C.D. is very arrogant and egotistical. However, once you get pass his personality you soon realize this guy really knows his stuff. It's no coincidence he's the only distinguished professor in the ECE department. Just listen and learn.
