Comment:

Dr. Redmond is, so far, the only professor who made me enjoy programming. He explains concepts very well, and his midterm and final exams are unique: three questions each (B, B+ and A), and if you answer just the A question correctly, you automatically receive an A on the exam. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Every DATA student's favorite professor. He explains things clearly, keeps classes hands-on and engaging, uses interesting datasets, and shows genuine concern for his students' progress. Don't miss class because he can cover a lot of material per day, even if it doesn't seem that way because he makes it seem easy. Wish he taught more classes.

Comment:

Chad is a great professor, it a joy to be his student. He is obviously passionate about the new data science program and tires to make the information accesible for people of every background. Unfortunetly, this means he also has to go a but slow for people that already know how to program. But overall, great. Beware exams, its your only grade!

Comment:

For fall 14 he is teaching a new course, intro to data science, MIS 150. As with other classes i have taken with him, he does not leave too many homework, and only has a few tests per term. He will go over stuff until everybody understands, though sometimes you might just get lost through all the material that is covered. Great guy.

REally really really easy teacher. Class is soooo much fun and you learn alot of cool things. You dont have to know anything about computers when you take this class either. This is an easy A and i would take it for an IDST or any other computer class.

Excellent professor, speaks very clearly and goes over all material covered while making it interesting. Has a good sense of humor, barely and homework. Midterms and Finals are so-so but if you study/practice and turn in HW on time you'll do just fine in the class.

Dr. Redmond is SO nice. He is very intelligent & explains concepts very thoroughly. As long as you hand in your assignments on time, you are golden. The midterm was hard, (and I'm sure the final will be) but there is a good curve. I honestly hated the computer generated art course material (very boring!) but Dr. Redmond was a great professor.

best part: he almost never requires a textbook. He tires to make everyone in the class understand what he is teaching. There is almost no homework and if you just take a little time to understand what he is saying you will get a good grade in his class. Tests are never worth very much.

I had him for statistics in the past and he is a very nice, helpful guy, BUT he always think that you can do the programming by yourself, but frankly, if you don't know how to do it, your pretty much screwed. If you need help hes there to help!

Very easy class. In the computer lab and allll work is done on the computer. Open notes and open book tests. All you hafta do is copy notes and have some general understanding of math. BORING, but I was on eBay all class every class and could've gotten like 15% on the final and still had an A. Take him for sure, he's a cool guy.

If you've had calc before, this is the class to take. VERY NICE PACE and easy. If you haven't and pick up on math well, he's reccomended. If you don't pick up on it too well, you will need a little help, but he will be willing to help you. He's a real nice guy. And he grades awesomely - points for everything!

Comment:

It was the first year for this course, so there were some discrepancies. He is laid back and funny- although quizzes are the only things you get graded on. Do bad on a few and you will fall behind. Usually takes all the time for class and reviews when anyone asks which is helpful.
