Don't skip class or use your mobile. Montierth hates that stuff. Shows students don't care about what she's teaching. Read all the chapters, or you will miss important (and AWESOME) stuff. Her lectures are a wonder to see. She is so enthusiastic. I was really inspired by her, so now I'm majoring in geology. I had prior skills coming in, so easy A+.

Charlene is the best prof Ive ever had. She has a passion for her job and love for her students. VERY enthusiastic which keeps you engaged. This class is extremely hard. Do reading, study w/groups, WRITE DOWN ANSWERS FOR EVERY STUDY GUIDE QUESTION. 60-70 point test weeklyconstant studying. An A is very attainable if you do the work and seek help.

One of the best profs at Clark. She cares about her field, communicates clearly, and is pretty organized. It's not an easy class, especially if you're uninterested in geology -- but an A or B is very attainable if you do the lab work and reading. IF you do your part, she's available for help. And you might be surprised to like geology by the end.

Lots of rocks and minerals to learn and memorize. You have to go to class, trust me if you aren't there, you won't be successful in the lab and lecture quizzes. If you listen to all her lectures and write down everything she does you'll have most of the answers to her lecture. No surprises in this class! Loves to be loud and yells, but funny.

She is what I would consider a strong feminist. Very smart and knowledgable in her field. You will need to memorize a whole lotta rocks, but she is very helpful. The amount of things you learn in their quarter is actually pretty cool. You won't look at rocks and minerals the same. Trust me!!

If I could take Charlene for every class I would. She is an amazing teacher because she requires you to learn, and she makes it fun while doing so. She gives you every chance in the world to get an A, but because of that she is a very hard grader. She expects you to know your stuff. I recommend taking Charlene any chance you can!

I am taking a class with her right now and she is amazing! You have to work hard in this class, but she helps so much! For quizzes she gives out study guides so there aren't any surprises on quizzes. For lab, she shows you how to figure out what Rick or mineral it is. NOT AN EASY A! But the class is interesting and I would take it again.

You have to memorize 90 different minerals and rocks for the test but she switches the rocks to ones you have not seen so you have to try to identify them from composition. So trying to identify by site is not always a way to learn them. You have to have a very good memory to take this class . She is fanatical about being late she will lock you out

Charlene knows her stuff. She definitely doesn't set you up for failure but you do need to be in class because a lot of the stuff isn't easily made up. She is very active in the class room and will help you if you get lost. way interesting than geo 101

This is a difficult class to take if you don't have a lot of time, and if you don't have an exceptional memory. Be prepared to memorize 90 samples of rock, and that's only half the class.

So I took Geology 101 with Charlene and she is awesome! There are tests but she gives you the questions that will be on them! As long as you study, you will do fine. It is a fast paced class but all sciences are. She is willing to help and always has extra open lab time which is super helpful. I definitely recommend this class and teacher

It's a bit odd to see people NOT like her since I really enjoy her class. The material at times may be difficult to understand, but if you get a group of people to study with you should be just fine. She's SUPER enthusiastic about what she does and will jump around - literally. There if you need a question answered. Tough tests, but good course!

Charlene is a tough grader, but it is only an issue if you really do not try. Go to class, pay attention, and you will do fine. She will help you during office hours if you need it, and she gives you ALL THE TEST ?'s --you just need to study them. Labs are interesting and fun, and the writing assignments are not difficult.

THE GOOD: Professor is passionate about the subject. Approachable. Explains things clearly. Answers questions well. Recognizes great scores on tests. THE BAD: Hard grader. Gives no extra credit or grace. If you miss an assignment (even if you do very well in the class otherwise), you're screwed. Claims to gives free points, which is not true.

50% of the class dropped out after the first week. That should tell you something. We bombed the first test, except for like 5 students. She never really was that approachable. She treats everyone like they are dumb. I got 95% on labs, while getting high grades on 2 out of 3 tests; while turning in perfect field reports. Lucky to escape with C.

RUN! I have taken geol 102 with Charlene and loved geology! She got me excited about the idea of even going all the way and majoring in geology! So I made a fatal mistake and took this class... Now I really hate everything about rocks and geologic processes. Way to much work- 5 lecture tests, 4 lab tests and 2 reports PLUS an all day field trip!

Great teacher with lots of enthusiasm, however this class is way to hard for an interdictory class! 5 short answer lecture tests, 3 rock id tests, and a cumulative lab final! Material is interesting, but I don't understand why we have to memorize rocks to understand geology. Lots of time wasted on something you won't remember anyway. No free time
