Comment:
He hated his job, wanted to give a good go at a research project, looped me into it, having me dedicate 8 whole credit hours to it, and then decided not to do anything with it. We sat there, and failed, with zero guidance. On good days he scribbled some incoherent junk on the chalkboard, and then tested us on his scribbles. Avoid if possible.

I'm a PhD student and took his class in undergrad, he expects you to study at PhD levels. I learned more in his classes than any other class I've ever taken. Very knowledgeable but extreme behaviorist bias. Is incredibly opinionated and intimidating. Yells at students, I yelled back once and fell into his good graces. Great gradschool prep class!

A lot of people were scared off, but only because he wants to teach people that want to learn and earn their grades. I decided to stick it out, and it was worth it. This is the hardest class I've ever taken, but I learned a lot and I'm glad I stuck with it. Abramson's respect is earned. He's there for you, but you have to be willing to work.

No book, thinks you should have prior knowledge. Intelligent guy but his tests have questions like 9a, 9b, 9c, and 9d if you miss one you get no credit

He is an expert in his field, and he knows it. If you are interested in learning, he will do everything to accommodate you. If not, he will "run you off." I was told by everyone to stay away from him; but my experience was the opposite. He is from the Northeast so he is a bit impatient, etc. I took his course in 2000

If you want to learn and further your education, take his class. At first, he is intimidating. But he is willing to help any student if they are willing to put in the effort as well. By far the most I've learned in any of my classes in my college career. Go to class, ask questions, and this will be the best class you'll ever take. Loved it.

No-nonsense sort of professor. If you have no interest in learning than don't waste your time or his by enrolling in this class. That being said, he has a lot of knowledge and insight to offer and taking his class is worthwhile. He is not as scary as people think although rather intimidating. For the love of god leave your cell phone at home.

He is initially very intimidating, but if you show him respect he'll show you the same. He spends the first week or so trying to weed out people. I took one of his classes as a sophomore and I did fine. He is VERY knowledgable. He is great at explaining. The test is completely from lecture, so you have to go to class

will never forget when a cell phone went off in class and he didn't come back for a week out of anger. He doesn't believe in partial credit and intentionally weeds people out of his classes by scaring them to death, but loves his work. He's pompous, intimidating and rude, but if you earn his respect you'll be fine.

I took Dr. Abramson's class during his first few years at OSU. He knows the material, presents it well and will help those who put forth a sincere effort. Having said that, as a person he can be quite rude, he has quite an ego and on occasion he had quite distinct body-odor. I I would describe him as a VERY intelligent but eccentric person.

Disrespects students constantly. Has a completely unreasonable attitude and once ran out of class to scream at a student who accidentally opened the wrong door. Would never recommend.

Very challenging course. If you are a hard worker, go for it. He is helpful if you seem to know what you are talking about and come to class regularly and show an honest effort. This professor isn't impossible, but he means business.

He is a good teacher and you just have to be willing to attend class everyday and pay attention and take notes. I was a little scared the first day in his class, but he seems like an overall nice guy and is helpful if you ask thoughtful questions, nothing that is obvious cause he will call you out.

Sorry we can't all start out as graduate students, pompous much? It depends on what criteria one holds for a good professor. I think a good professor actually makes you learn things and not just memorize them, which is exactly what Dr. Abramson did. Now if you think a good professor is one that is "laid back", then he most certainly is not.
