this man really knows his stuff. he doesn't believe in writing on the blackboard or using powerpoints. you reallllly have to pay attention in class and write down everything you can. study hard for the exams, they're really tough. if you don't have background knowledge of baseball, don't take this class unless you're truly devoted to learning it.

I love Charles C. Alexander. The class was huge, so it would be easy to skip - but I never did. The exams were somewhat difficult; you really have to go through your notes and complete the readings. And aside for his outward hatred of the Yankees, I love the man. He knows the most obscure baseball stats - very impressive.

This is a great class. To all those interested, you have one last crack at his American Baseball History class in Winter 06, because he is retiring thereafter. He is a Jedi master of trick wording on the occasional multiple choice question, but the exams aren't that tough if you do the reading.

If he wasn't so damn endearing in a crazy old grandpa sort of way I probably would have given him lower scores. His exams (matching mainly) are nonsensical at worst and mildly irritating at best. He can sing "Tea for Two" very well though.

Good guy, interesting class but too hard. I did all the readings, studied, went to class and ended up with a C-. His tests are extremely hard. He asks the most obscure questions in the most confusing ways. It's hard to tell what is just a story & what you actually need to know.

I could listen to him tell stories all day, and that essentially is the class. Don't expect this class to be a blow-off class. There's a lot of reading, but it is manageable

There is a lot of reading but its mostly interesting. The exams were a mixed bag, the first and the final were EASY the middle exam, not so easy. Exams: Multiple choice, matching (which gave people trouble) and essays. Fun class.

Dr. Alexander is a great prof and his books are fine reads. You have to keep up with the reading to do well in this class. The exams are multiple choice, matching and essay. The essays are graded TOUGH/nitpicky, so B.S won't fly. Fun class overall.

I loved him. He loves his subject- baseball history and he presents it in an entertaining way. He is knowledgable, engaging, and charming. He gets the whole class laughing. The class is hard, but that's nothing to complain about. An adorable old man!!!!

This was the worst history class I have taken here. Even though many may say his classes are great, trust me, they are not. The tests were impossible and didn't reflect his lectures at all. Don't take classes with him.
