Comment:
Atwood gets a pretty bad wrap from most people. Really though he is not bad at all, out of the chemistry professors he is not the easiest but his classes almost always have the higher average score than the other teachers on the tests. The reason for that is probably because he actually makes you learn.

Molding wallpaper is more interesting and informative then Dr. Atwood. I felt as if I was digging my own grave each time I had to hear his condescending southern accent. AVOID THIS MODERN ROBERT E. LEE AT ALL COSTS.

Worst chemistry teacher ever! He is so difficult to work with. His tests are so hard and tricky and you cannot get a good grade from his class. I wouldn't recommend him

He seem passionate at first, but isn't. He has an uncontrollable temper, that you don't want to go to class, but have to, because he give clicker grade randomly. When I ask him to give example problem, he ended up yelling at me in front of the whole class like I didn't belong there. My advice is don't take his class.

Terrible teacher, Didnt teach the students anything. Only expected us to read the book and abosorb the material. When we asked him to go over some problems we had, he disregarded it and just moved on with the quiz. Doesnt actually have a lecture just makes you take a quiz the entire class. Not worth taking this class.

Is professor Atwood challenging? Yes, but this is a university-level chemistry course, so that's what the expectation should be. If you want a good grade, prepare to put in the time. I feel like I understand chemistry better than if I had taken the class from someone else. Great class!

At the beginning Atwood may seem very knowledgeable and caring for his students. Don't trust him, unless you want to endure one very aggravating semester. I like chemistry and I slaved myself studying and I FAILED. My classes mean this semester was a D, and he doesn't curve. Don't take his class.

Horrible teacher (if you can call him a teacher). Treats people like they were idiots and does not bother answering questions. I recommend taking CHEM anywhere but UGA or investing some serious coin in the tutoring zone packets!

You go along the book pretty well so make sure to read it but the test info comes from lectures and the supplements the teacher writes. Make sure you get a hold of those and also go see Rich at Study Edge. He cleared up a bunch of holes.

Gen chem is already a super difficult course, so you can't really blame Atwood for the less than average grade you'll most likely earn. However if you really work for your grade it's not too much different from 1st semester of gen chem. He definitely CAN be a jerk but usually, it's because some people ask questions he has already addressed/answered

Gen Chem is pretty miserable because it is boring and it is difficult to pay attention. Atwood explains things well but class often moves slowly. Tests are unnecessarily difficult and Atwood really isn't will to help students and he doesn't care about individuals... in his class you are just a number

He is an ok teacher. I had Suggs for Chem 1211 and when I got into Atwoods class, he expected us to know everything from his class last semester even though I was not in his class. He is kind of a jerk! And He made you feel stupid if you asked questions. I don't know if any other teacher would be better though.

He can be a jerk... I was always afraid to ask questions because he makes people sound dumb. He's really clear though compared to other chemistry professors. If you understand the homework and practice tests you should be okay. Do NOT wait for the night before the test to study! I would definitely take him though.

Dr. Atwood is a great Chem professor. A lot of my friends who had other professors would wind up sitting in on his class. Freshman Chemistry is a tough course, but he is probably your best bet. You have to be willing to work very hard for your grade; none of the professors will be easy.

Had him for both 1211 and 1212. Lectures are somewhat interesting and helpful. However, he has an attitude and is quite a jerk. Tends to favor people who suck up to him. Makes you feel stupid when you ask questions. Calls out people who text, sleep, talk, etc in class. Unfair tests.

Great teacher, tries to make chemistry interesting and has a good sense of humor. But you have to work super hard to make sure you understand what is going on in class. Do not expect to do well on the tests if you have studied any less than a week in advance.
