Prof. Spiller's great. He can come across to some as arrogant, but not like others at B-Port. He makes his expectations clear at the beginning. The question sheets may be a pain to do, but you're guaranteed a good grade on them if put in the effort to make them detailed. He's very helpful in office hours. The readings are lengthy it IS college!

Prof Spiller is probably one of the best teachers I've had at Brockport. He is very interesting and usually discusses current events and he is definitely liberal. Most likely anyone complaining about him is right-wing. He is very obvious about where he stands politically. He knows about his topics, sometimes we watch old movies relevant to class

He's really not that hard. People say he's very boring and arrogant, but they must have mouthed off that they were right and were WRONG. There is a lot of work, but if I ever did any of it, it would be that hard... lol.

Every time I listened to him talk I didn't know if I wanted to cry, or punch him. Only plus side is he constantly BS's his way through lectures, so the class is easily BS'd by a student. Guarenteed at least B+ (as long as you go to class)

Not always very clear and may take over your head. Does not seem to respect others point of view. Especially if you are apart of the Republican party.

The man loves history and loves to teach. Knows his stuff big-time. Willing to help and come in to accommodate your schedule if need be. Highly recommend. Warning - keep up with the reading and the writing assignments or you'll be toast, but if you're taking a 400 level course, you should know that by now.

He is why I chose history I have taken all of his courses at Bport. He makes you work hard but is able to help whenever it is necessary. Likes to get to know who you are and what you are about. His class is very interactive with group and class discussion. Be prepared when you go to class. Hard grader, but will work to help you succeed.

Dr. Spiller is a very bright, quick-minded, and articulate professor. He's a fine teacher, and he handles seminars, for the most part, excellently. For Modern America courses, particularly at the graduate level, I recommend him very highly; he does very well with themes such as labor, economic history, globalization, and consumerism.

Spiller is such a great teacher. He's so full of information and jam-packs his classes full of facts. Cares a lot about the topic but mostly cares about spreading his knowledge. Brings in humor and meshes it with the history to make the classes interesting. History can be boring, but he makes it fun.
