Dr. Carlson is an amazing professor! His lectures are very interesting, and he's always willing to help students out! The exams are not difficult if you READ THE BOOK and attend class. He does give pop quizzes in class, but they're not hard if you're even halfway paying attention. One of my favorite professors I've ever had!

Carlson is really nice and has a lot of good advice and information to give. He tells a lot of stories, which I liked. Sometimes his lectures can get boring though because he talks the whole time, but definitely worth sitting through. Gives pop quizzes and randomly picks 5 to stand for your grade so you have to come to class. Easy & interesting

By far the best professor I have ever had. He's like a goofy grandpa and a lot of times he will spend class telling personal stories that relate to the material. He gives random quizzes (super easy, he'll give you the answer most of the time) for attendance, so don't miss. Tests are mostly a mix of vocab and lecture material. Just an awesome dude.

Dr. Carlson was extremely approachable and treated all students with utmost respect. It's impossible not to pass the exams if you study the book. He made psychology fun and interesting by telling his personal stories. The 50 minute classes felt like 20 minutes because he kept me entertained the entire time.

I graduated from UK in December 2000. Of all the classes that I took at UK, this class left the biggest impression on me because of his effectiveness as a teacher. Be ready to cry when he tells about his personal experience with one topic (I won't tell b/c I don't want to spoil the lecture). He brings the topics to the learner in ways that last.

This class was by far my favorite class of college. Dr. Carlson was obviously passionate about the material and presented it in a way that was fun and interesting. The material is so relevant and applicable to life. Read the textbook- it's interesting and will help you immensely on exams. Showing up to class also guarantees easy quiz points!

I learned more from Dr. Carlson than from any professor or teacher I have ever had. This is one of the few classes that will truly be applicable later in life regardless of your career path. Tests are fairly easy and he drops questions if more than half of the class misses it. There are pop quizzes worth 20% of your grade so dont skip!

Truly the only class you'll ever need in life. Carlson is an expert and an amazing storyteller. I can only name 1 other professor that is as competent, charming, caring and motivational as Carlson, and I'm a senior. Be prepared to listen and absorb. This course IS NOT for people trying to get by. Take full advantage of what he has to offer

Carlson is a great professor. His lectures are intriguing and the class is basically "How to parent 101". Make sure you read the book and know the vocabulary and you will pass every test with an A. Be prepared for pop quizzes - they can be about stuff from the book or what he lectures. He's a really nice guy and I love the class. Highly recommend!!

Does not take attendance but gives random pop quizzes (not hard) that require you to be there if you want the points. He tells you that you must read the book but as long as you know the vocab from the chapter and the lecture notes you will get an A on all of the tests

I'd love to have a conversation with Carlson bc the content was genuinely intriguing. However, I didn't like how the grade was based solely on exams and random "quizzes". Exam questions were super specific and from the text more often than not. Lecture notes barely helped on exams. Got a C but would be an easy A if I didn't skip as much as I did

Dr. Carlson is awesome. He talks a lot but come test time you realize that everything he has said is relevant. His stories about his personal life helped me understand and apply what he said. Before taking his developmental psychology class I hated psychology, now after I hope to take more! He is a great professor!

Dr. Carlson is a great professor! He tells stories to illustrate his lectures which help students understand the concepts he discusses. You can tell that he really cares about his students and not just about their grades. Be ready to read every chapter of the textbook to do well on his tests though. He occasionally gives small quizzes in class.

In my opinion, one of the best professors I've ever had. He is kind, inspirational, and his lectures are awesome. I would definitely take him again. In the way of reading, All I did was review Vocab and read the summary at the end of the chapters and still passed with a B+

His lecture notes are often confusing and they go in the opposite direction of the book. He assigns seats for some odd reason. He really doesn't know how to use the mic, and often talks so softly you can't hear him. Test are 5050 lectures and book (KNOW THE TERMS!!) Test are more of applied knowledge. Does give pop quizzes. Great Professor!

Talks too soft so you can't hear him. Lectures really don't help at all with exams. Far too many family stories.
