Midterm, argumentative paper (5-7 pages), and final. No homework except assigned reading. Easy A if you attend class and listen to his lectures. He's knowledgable, passionate, and articulate. Funny and sarcastic. NOT PC which is great. He says what needs to be said. Don't take this class if you get easily offended.

Easy class- no hw, one 5-7 pg essay, 2 tests + final. He assigns reading, but I never did. He curves the tests by a lot. As long as you pay somewhat attention during class then you will pass. Easiest class I've ever taken workload wise. He's a good guy with a sense of humor. His lectures can be boring & he shows videos in class. Not a bad class.

Dr. Hughes is very knowledgeable in philosophy. At times the lectures may drag, but overall the class is pretty easy and if you do the work you can pass.

I took Hughes in Fall '11 and I thought he was great! The class was very interesting and was one of my favorites. It wasn't too easy of a class, but wasn't demanding either. I would love to take another class with him again!

Best Phiosophy teacher ever! His class isn't a cakewalk, but if you at least read the books a little bit, you will get an easy B. Hughes has a great sense of humor which makes class very enjoyable.

Very nice professor, & is clear in his lectures. Class is SO boring though. Was hard to wake myself to attend. Read the texts over & over again. Review exercises hundreds of times. 2 papers, 1 midterm, 1 final, 4 quizzes. Tests & quizzes are all true & false &multiple choice but wording is difficult. He curves a lot. Most likely get a B

Class is overall easy. 2 papers, 1 midterm, and 1 final. Little quizzes but they're quite tricky and very detailed. Read the books for the quizzes really carefully. Class is chill, usually talk about things out of topic. Papers are easy got 95/100 on both of them. Take this class for an easy B!

Like others have said, it is hard to keep your eyes open in this class. If you read the book and somewhat pay attention in class, you'll do fine.. 2 essays, some quizzes, a midterm and a final. pretty easy class, just boring professor.. moderate level of trying required.

I love this class! He's really funny and made the material interesting. I liked his teaching style. I almost never studied and got a's and b's on everything. 3 tests, 2 papers, nothing too difficult. Definitely take his class!

I loved this professor....His tests weren't that bad...he goes over the exercises and his test are mainly off the book and he goes steadily through the chapters..I loved when he says "People how are you?"...he is a funny guy! :)

He's really funny. He's interested in getting to know his students as well, which makes class enjoyable. Only focused on rhetoricss. 2 papers, 1 midterm, 1 final. The only thing is that he doesn't really help with the papers unless you ask. Other than that, you're on your own.

Everyone thinks this class is difficult but it really is not. Just make sure you read all the chapters...the tests correspond to them exactly! There are two papers. The one on free will is challenging but not impossible. I got As on all of the tests and papers. His lectures can be boring but engaging in class discussion helps!

I am a 4.0 student, and I got a B in this class. There are only 2 tests and 2 papers. His test are 100 questions which are true and false for most. The tests are IMPOSSIBLE, on the first test the highest score was in the 70s out of 100. He curves it a lot but still hard to pass. I do not recommend.

2 5-7 pg papers & 2 t/f exams. lectures are common sense & boring. Hughes tries to make conversation & seems to b a nice prof, but doesn't cut it as a constructive critical teacher. he doesn't hand back the last paper & doesn't note on ur 1st paper so u don't know how to make it better. the book helps, but lectures & his handout r mostly the exams

The work load is not difficult, but the tests are just not fair. I am an A student and read what I was supposed to read. 90% of the tests are true and false, and the wording he uses is mysterious. He knows the tests are hard and curves them alot, but I got a D on the midterm which curved to a B. Tough to get an A in this class.

Exams are ridiculous. You'll bomb it, just hope your peers do poorly too so he'll curve. doesn't matter if you study hard or read the book or take notes in class or watch the videos. He's a nice professor, but his class is ridiculous, you'll find yourself ditching once you know what I mean. 2 Exams, 2 papers. If want a goodgrade, Iwouldn't take him
