Kundu is a nice guy but not a great lecturer. I learned most of the material in Discussion with my TA, who was okay, and I took Stats in high school so I was somewhat familiar with concepts anyway. There are weekly quizzes and he warned of possibly having a pop quiz but we never had one. Homework is online and pretty easy.

Professor Kundu does want his students to succeed. But you basically have to teach yourself and the homework can be unnecessarily long. Project due on the day of the final worth 10% of our grade and was barely talked about in class.

It's rare for math profs to get good reviews but I really liked Kundu. He clearly cares if you understand the problems or not and will stop during lecture to answer and explain. The class grades are based on participation (HW that can be super long), quizzes given out each week, a midterm & final as well as a project worth 10%.

Kundu is a nice guy, but the class felt disorganized. Weekly quizzes. HW can be time consuming. Project assigned at the end of the semester was ridiculously hard and used a software we never went over in class. Material felt rushed, making it confusing a lot of the time. If you're not good at math, you'll struggle in this class.

Kundu is the most pure professor out there. He is so funny and will make Stat so much fun. Make sure you do your homework and ask questions when you need to, and he will have your back all semester!

I'm not a fan of this professor or this class. He comes across to many of the students as pretty charming and harmless but he can be quite unreasonable with his expectations in what is essentially an intro class. Beware of finals week as we've had the most out-of-class work assigned during this period and it's all relatively difficult/time consumin

This class is hard if math isn't your thing, but Kundu doesn't try to make it harder than it has to be. Some of his lectures are confusing -- the explanations in the textbook are usually easier to understand. And don't worry, he MAJORLY curves grades at the end of the semester.

I am not a stat major however Kundu made statistics enjoyable. The class is by no means easy but if you put in a lot of work it's possible to do well. The class was made up by weekly quizzes, midterm, final, and project. Get to know him during office hours because he's extremely helpful one on one and wants you to succeed.

just show up to lecture and take lots of notes. recitations are super helpful as well. he explains things decently but can be difficult to stay engaged, doesnt interact with class very often during lecture. curves grades, itll save you.

Comment:
While all Statistics professors at this school don't seem to be great, Kundu seemed very ineffective at trying to handle a class of this size (150 people). He tried to hand out papers 1 by 1 on his own and often gets flustered when teaching. Most learning is done with your TA. You could get the book, but it's also fine to only study from your notes

Professor Kundu acres about his students and helps a lot during office hours. The biggest downfall of the course is his quizzes every week that can sometimes be difficult as it is on new material and do not always reflect the practice problems done in class. He does provide many resources for us to use though and drops the 2 lowest quiz grades.

I believe Stats is a helpful class that all students should take, but Kundu was truly one of the worst professors I have ever come across. I came into this class with a basic understanding of statistics but left more confused. I know this class is required for Columbian but do not take him. He explains nothing and I'm not sure he even understands.

This class is pretty tough, and you have to work for a good grade, but Kundu gives notes that are really clear, easy to follow, and good for reviewing. One midterm, a final, a project, and a weekly quiz (two are dropped). The exams are tough (curved), but if you study for the quizzes they'll boost your grade.

Kundu' teaching style is hard to get used to at first but it gets easier as the semester goes on. He's really nice and is willing to help outside of class if you just ask. Sometimes he speeds through topics too fast so you have to go back and reteach yourself but discussions/practice problems make it easier to grasp. Allows flash card on final

Comment:
It's probably unfair for me to be critical of Kundu bc I think I was just bad at stats and didn't put enough work in. He's a nice guy, he just seemed overwhelmed by a 170 person lecture. Read the textbook and don't get distracted or miss lectures. Grades are based mostly on difficult weekly quizzes. Big project at the end is a grade-saver.

If you go to lectures and actually listen, this class easy. If you do miss class, do the readings, the textbook is pretty helpful. The material is not hard and he goes at a reasonable pace. His tests are short, so you can't afford to screw up. He offered some extra credit too. He has a bit of an accent, but I was still able to understand him.

I thinks he is a good prof. He has a great responsibility. Any questions are welcomed and would be answered. Although quizzes are too much, it is greater than only have midterms and finals. Grading is fair and would be curved if necessary.

Doesn't know English very well, pronunciation of words is very bad. He has one Pizza Hut bag, within a lot of quizzes. Finals are easier than the Midterm. His TA can't subtract 0.49 from 0.5, doesn't know how to use the real calculator. Real mess.

Professor likes people who show up to office hours and participate in class. He is helpful outside of class, especially in preparing for quizzes. But in class he is very confusing and unorganized. His accent makes it hard to understand on top of the difficult material. He tries to be fair but this class requires a lot of individual learning.

Kundu is funny and really nice but his accent makes it very difficult to understand a lot of what he says so pay attention. The only time I ever did well on a quiz was when I went to his office hours so go to him outside of class. There's a quiz every week so make sure you do the homework even though he never checks it.
