I took this class my first semester at Harper and at first I thought he wasn't teaching, just telling stories. But by the first test, I realized his stories helped us to better understand the topic by giving us a real life situation. Incredibly funny and genuinely caring. Only problem is that he is late frequently for class and lectures.

One of the worst teachers I have ever had. Claims you will be given extra credit but never puts it in. No homework. Doesn't use blackboard at all. Tells stories instead of teaching the material. Doesn't explain what will be on the test. Never replies to any emails. When you want help, he just confuses you even more. Be ready to teach yourself.

Funny, but doesnt teach at all. Talks more about his life than anything related to psy! Never updates grades on BB. Hardly ever on time to lectures, constantly posting the "wrong" study guides for exams!

Charles Johnston is the dopest and funniest professor ive ever taken. bad sides: doesn't use blackboard, not vocally clear sometimes when he speaks, goes with the flow it seems like for his courses. good sides: smart, understanding, funny, tells you what he wants for projects, not strict or picky with grading, shares stories, overall just great

Bad. Need this class for grad school, but am seriously thinking of dropping. He is very unclear & hard to follow during lecture. Changes his mind on expectations on term paper half way to deadline. Doesn't post x-credit, hw, or anything else to BB. Doesn't stick to syllabus. Essay exams sound easy, then drops a bomb of last minute requirements.

I had him for my first semester as a freshman and he was overall pretty great. I took his class in the theatre but definitely taught pretty well. He told us a lot of stories about his life which I saw in many reviews on here. I think they helped me understand concepts a lot more clear if I was on the edge about it. Overall thought he was great.

Very unclear about what's going on in class. Mostly just talks about his life, which are pretty boring stories. I was very lost as to what I needed to know for the test and what chapter we were on. Don't take him if you can take someone else

He doesn't teach, basically goes over 10 minutes on the materail and the rest babbles about his life which is boring. Read the chapters then you will do well in the class. Pick someone else if you can.

He's a funny guy, but the material we learn is class is only a fraction of the test. There are questions on there that weren't from the study guide. He doesn't put in your grades online until the very end of the semester. He says "do this for EC" but I'm not even sure if he put it in. But, he is very helpful if you go to him for questions.

I took Prof. Johnston over the summer. He has an different sense of humor, its dry somewhat "The Office" like. I really would have liked extra credit but there wasn't any given :( I purchased the psych book for class but we didnt really use it much, the class was lecture heavy so as long as you paid attention to him, youll do well on the tests.

Took Johnston's class over the summer, and I think that he is a good, lenient teacher. He offers opportunities of extra credit, and only few HW assignments that aren't difficult at all. Only two exams for the summer, midterm and takehome final. Going to class isn't required, but majority of the lectures are on exams. Lectures better than textbook.

My class was in the lecture hall with tons of students so attendance wasn't taken, but he did pass around a sheet a few times to write our names down for brownie points. Overall the class is fairly easy if you're able to take good notes/study. He offers study sessions before each test, and gives out four straightforward short writing assignments.

His lectures are not the clearest. He does make funny jokes during them, though. There aren't very many homework assignments and there are only 3 exams. The second one is the hardest. Take as many notes as you can in this class. He's overall a cool guy though.

Professor Johnston made class fun and I actually looked forward going. He related a lot of topics to either funny or personal stories that made it easy for me to remember. He gives out a lot of extra credit and is VERY helpful when it comes to test reviews. Homework load is light!! Take him!!!
